About this House

We're Dropship Dharma, a 14 year old co-op in downtown Palo Alto, and we're looking for someone new to move in! We strive to be a cooperative community that provides more than mere residential necessity, where the well-being of each individual and the group are prioritized. We do this by fostering a functional and aesthetic space for open dialogue, safe repose, good food, and abundant shenanigans, since 2012. Most of us here are graduate students or postdocs, or tech working millennials in our late twenties and mid-thirties, with a mix of men and women. We're currently 7 people. We keep costs low by splitting professional cleaning service, internet, electricity, and groceries ($250-350/month).

Large 200 square foot basement den available for rent immediately. The room does not have a proper wall and instead is separated from a low traffic basement hallway by a room divider. The room shares a bathroom with 2 other housemates. The price is $1,400 and there is a $1,666 security deposit. Rent increases by 3% from July.

Food is central to our community and we share four vegan dinners per week. Of course, people are free to have non-vegan meals outside of these meal times! The house was recently renovated with 2 full kitchens, 2 dishwashers, 2 washer/dryers, and a large back deck with a grill. Parts of the downstairs, including the available downstairs rooms, were renovated this month. The large back yard has a veggie & native plant garden, a hot tub, and 10 different fruit trees.

We're located just a few blocks from the shops and restaurants on University Ave, the Palo Alto Caltrain station, and Johnson Park. Stanford's campus is a ~20-minute walk, ~10-minute bike ride, and 10-minute drive. We are looking for someone who vibes well, is a good communicator, and has co-op enthusiasm! LGBTQ+ welcome. If this sounds good to you, DM me and come meet everyone for dinner!

"Very friendly and save neighborhood. There are some parks and good schools nearby. Good place to live! "
  • Fred G.
"I've lived here about a year now having no expectations due to Palo Alto's history. There are basically two Palo Altos. One is where there is commerce occuring with many, many, many choices of food and drink and the quiet, residential areas. It's very relaxing, convenient and tranquil. It's a great jumping off point to get to anywhere that Caltrain can take you. Roberts delivering packages and driverless cars just blend in. Bike riding is very, very big here. Anything from a simple commuter junker sat on by techies to family sedans where there a rig in the front and the back. The bike riding is pretty safe in the neighborhoods as long as you plan yor route. "
