Licensed hunters can wander the mountains for a chance to bag an elk, mule and white-tailed deer, antelope, and black bear. Rifle hunting for elk is by special permit. Archery season opens a general elk hunt and there are some opportunities for upland game bird hunting. Judith River The Judith River is a tributary of the majestic Missouri River. Flowing for 127 miles, the river begins in the Little Belt Mountains where it eventually pours into the Missouri near Judith Landing. This area identified for its white cliffs and spectacular rock formations as well as its floating opportunities. Fish for Brook, Brown, and Rainbow Trout, Burbot, Channel Catfish, Mountain Whitefish, and Sauger.
