Terrible school don’t send your child here

I had a very concerning experience with Sumter County Elementary School that I feel other parents should be aware of.On the very first day of school, my child was left in the bus area, and I had no communication or explanation about what happened. When I went to the front office for answers, I was met with a lack of urgency and concern. I was told the principal would call me back, but I never received that call.When I returned to follow up, the principal’s response was simply, “You got him back right, so what’s the problem?” That response was extremely upsetting. As a parent, I was visibly emotional and just wanted to understand how my child was put in that situation. Instead of compassion or reassurance, I was met with a dismissive and nonchalant attitude.There was no apology, no accountability, and no effort to make me feel confident in my child’s safety. That experience made it clear to me that I could not trust this school with my children, and it ultimately pushed me to seek a better school system.I am sharing this so other parents are aware. Every child deserves to be in an environment where their safety is taken seriously, and every parent deserves to be treated with respect and care when concerns are raised.

They have a fine reputation in this community. They are proactive - the children are learning in a productive and supportive environment. They have recently been working on saving on energy usage and have earned State attention for these efforts.

Best school when you stay to yourself and be around the right people
