Description

The Pines at Fort Peck Lake | Log Cabin, Heated Shop and Deeded Lot
The Pines Hideaway, located in the well-known Pines region and within walking distance of the famed Fort Peck Lake, is a charming property offering a range of features designed to cater to your every need, whether you're seeking a serene getaway or a permanent residence. Just 400 feet outside the homes backdoor is an easily accessible sandy beach sloping into the expansive Fort Peck Lake. Enjoy fishing from the shore or bring your lawn chair and experience the serenity of relaxing in the sunshine with sand between your toes, right here in Valley County, Montana.
The Pines Hideaway Cabin provides 1,997 square feet of finished living space constructed upon a deeded lot measuring 6/10ths of an acre. Built in 2001, the log craftsmanship is second to none, with interior exposed logs, vaulted ceilings and overhead beams, the main floor living area is nothing short of a showstopper. The open concept kitchen, living and dining area is flooded with natural light, accentuating the hardwood flooring that extends through the living area, contrasting with the browns and greys found in the linoleum completing the kitchen. One bedroom is found on the main floor as well as one of the homes two full baths.
Enjoy Fishing and the Outdoors Year-Around
Electric heat keeps the home at a comfortable temperature, supplemented by two propane fireplaces, one on each floor, adding to the rustic cabin ambiance. A ductless central air unit ensures guests are comfortable in the summer months as well. The home has been consistently heated throughout the winter and is used regularly by the current owner year-around.An expansive covered deck off the main living area was constructed approximately 6 years ago of composite material, allowing for minimal maintenance. Initially facing the lake, the deck then continues in both directions to surround 3 sides of the home, allowing an owner to fully experience the sunrise and sunsets for which Montana is famous.
A 333 square foot loft overlooking the main living area provides additional sleeping space if needed, with access to a second, more private deck, located directly above the covered deck on the homes main level.
Finished Daylight Basement and Multiple Outdoor Entertaining Spaces
The full, concrete, daylight basement adds a second sleeping room and second full bath. A cozy family room with the homes second propane fireplace finishes off the space. Laminate flooring and linoleum extend throughout the basement space allowing for easy maintenance and durability. French door opens from the basement level to a concrete patio, providing a third outdoor space for entertaining or enjoying relaxing evenings.
Heated Shop with Concrete Floor, Metal Exterior and Interior
The shop, constructed approximately 10 years ago, is a valuable addition, built with just as much careful consideration as the home. Measuring 36 x 40 with 2 x 6 walls, fully insulated and finished with a metal interior, the garage provides the perfect storage and workspace. 10 ceilings and a 9 overhead insulated door allows for a myriad of possible uses for the space. Heated with propane forced air heat, the metal sided building is regularly used by the owner even in the coldest of the winter months. The concrete floor extends to a 24 x 21 apron allowing for a clean, well-kept appearance and plenty of dry parking.
The property is part of the Fort Peck Lake Homeowners Association. Running water is provided to the house from May 1st to October 1st by the Pines Division of the Fort Peck Lake Association. From Oct 1st through May 1st water is hauled by the owner and stored in a 300-gallon cistern located in the basement. From there it is plumbed directly into the homes water system. All water to the house is run through a Reverse Osmosis system, also located in the basement. Big Valley Water services a water filtration system at a rate of approximately $600/year. The pressure tank and pumps pertinent to the water system are 1 and 4 years old.
The homes hot water heater was updated in 2018. Both structures on the property have metal roofs and the exterior logs of the home have been stained as needed. Property Taxes for the 2022 year were $2,639.25. The owner reports using approximately 1000 gallons of propane per year and speculates the electricity runs at an approximate average of $100/month.
Fully Furnished, Turn-Key Cabin
The structures on this Fort Peck Pines lot were carefully constructed by the current owner and have been meticulously maintained since. Sold turn-key, with all appliances and furniture in place included in the purchase price, this lake cabin is an excellent opportunity for a new buyer to step into the ideal Lake property and immediately enjoy all that life in the Pines has to offer!
World Class Walleye Fishing, Ice Fishing, Lake Trout, Smallmouth Bass and Pike Fishing
Fort Peck is renowned for its Pike, Smallmouth Bass and Lake Trout fishing, but its the Walleye that steal the show. Walleye fishing during the months of June and July on Fort Peck Reservoir have as become legendary for producing record catches, with recent tournaments producing weights of over 100 lbs for two-day weigh-ins! This Pines Cabin property is centrally located, allowing an owner to be casting a line for trophy walleye within minutes of launching from the dock. While June and July may be the most popular months, anglers can target giant walleye throughout the year whether it's from a boat or through the ice.
The property is located in the 630 Hunting District for elk, with quality elk often found in timber patches near the water. The archery tag is relatively easy to draw in this district. Hell Creek Bay sits roughly 20 miles to the west and the Fork Peck Dam and Marina can be found 13 miles to the east.

"It has both the positive and negative aspects of a small town, but I have found it to be a great community to live in."
  • Rfc56
"Most people are friendly. Its up on a hill, so flooding from the Milk River isn’t a problem. Its pretty quiet for being in town. I can easily walk to work and walk home. Although there were two arrests at my next store neighbor’s recently, its usually safe. Only one person had a gun. We have birdfeeders and we get lots of cool birds, including pheasants in the back yard. Also we have deer. "
  • Hopstadbarb
"Nice small town with pride in everything we do. Schools are excellent. Everyone offers help to others without having to ask."

  • Swesaias
"people just kinda mind there own business while still keeping on eye on the neighborhood. it's nice to know that when your away for a weekend that people are still watching over you house, without asking for anything but a returned favor. we really love this town."
