As a parent, I was disappointed by my experience with the administration and some members of the staff. Rather than working collaboratively with our family, I often felt that concerns about my son’s behavior were quickly attributed to ADHD. I felt there was pressure to pursue a medical evaluation and medication instead of first exploring other supports or taking the time to understand his individual needs.Communication with our family was often frustrating, and at times I felt our concerns and perspective as parents were not given the consideration they deserved. Every child is unique, and schools should partner with families instead of making them feel that a medical explanation is the only answer.I hope the school continues to improve its communication with parents, respects the role of families in medical decisions, and focuses on providing supportive educational interventions before drawing conclusions about a child’s behavior. Every child deserves to feel understood, supported, and treated with dignity!
