"There is nothing special about this neighborhood if you like to hear shoot outs and loud music at night during the summer then this neighborhood is perfect for you "
  • Michael N Yanni
"My commute is great, public transportation is convenient and always on time. You can travel anywhere using public transportation."
  • Kathy S.
"Many in the area, would see plenty of other owners and dogs. But not many spaces in which a dog can run."
  • Ckt V Duran
"Safety New York street are getting worse I moved out from New York for that reason. They need to do something otherwise New York is not a safe place to live. "
  • Alex
"The street fairs in 9th Ave, great restaurants and proximity to Lincoln Center, Central Park, and Riverside Park make this the most fun neighborhood in NYC."
  • Cheve.chan
"As with any NYC neighborhood, there are occasional random acts of crime and violence. Just the other day I witnessed an assault while walking with my three-year-old. My family and I are always very cautious with passers-by on the sidewalk. Other than that we love the neighborhood."
  • Luis M Lopez
"Not the safest area to raise children right now because things have gotten violent and dangerous. Not the same area it used to be."
  • Trulia User

  • Trulia User
"It's a good place to be and have a family. Very good schools For your kids but also very good restaurants for you."
  • Trulia User
"Stay clear of 8th Ave. You want to be somewhere between 9th and 10th, and above 45th street. Enjoy Central Park! "
  • Trulia User
"There’s poop everywhere, drugs being sold on the corner even though the police is present. The traffic is horrendous. "
  • Trulia User
"Ok. Tunnel traffic is terrible. Bus, subway, port authority close by. But tunnel close to leave town if you drive. "
  • Trulia User
"It’s a very large city and close to time square. A lot of tourists and a decent amount of homelessness. Everyone seems to mind their business"
  • Trulia User

  • Minache S.
"it good, neat and clean and friendly. we need improvement with the homeless but other than that it's good "
  • Gabriella S.

  • Trevor G.
"Basically nothing. There’s a farmer’s market on 57 and 10th. No sense of community for anyone to work with. "
  • Rp.crowley

  • Robert C.
"Not the best, not the worst. HK is a centrally located and easy to get around the city. The food scene is fast and cheap but plenty of great options."
  • Ricardo A.
"Noisy and dirty most of the time. The nearby to UPS are also jammed in the pick times. Density of people is higher due to the apartments complex"

"Lots of dog poop, garbage. and filth on sidewalks. This is a pretty bad area at night. Common stabbings and fist fights in 9th Ave. police ineffective "
  • Sophie G.
"Touristy meets eclectic. I wish I liked the neighborhood more but it is quite dirty, and it is quite hard not to be harassed by homeless people while walking anywhere."
  • Ricardo A.
"Close to Lincoln a Tunnel, thus a little bit noisy. UPS air conditioning is too noisy as well and trucks in/out with their sirens on each reversal manouver"
  • Michael M.
"Yes they would like the neighborhood as there is a dog park close by and many residents with dogs....."
  • Amelia G.
"I’ve lived in this neighborhood for 3 years with my partner, our pup, and our 14 month old daughter. My partner grew up in this neighborhood as well! The neighborhood took a minute to grow on me but now I absolutely love it! Great family neighborhood with something for everyone. Parks everywhere!! 2 dog parks we frequent regularly (one right by the water) and only a few blocks from our favorite place in the city, Central Park. Lots of restaurants and take out/delivery options. Really the heart of Manhattan so we are close to everything. Close to classes for my daughter and museums (MoMa is a super short walk). Trader Joe’s on UWS is quick by train, Whole Foods at Columbus Circle, and Amish Market is in the neighborhood for last minute needs. Super busy and sometimes loud nightlife is only downside. The farther west you go - can get a little sketchy. But pretty awesome all around!"
  • Anastasiia
"There are not much playgrounds here and this area is more for single people Apartments are tiny, and most of the buildings don’t have elevators"
  • Gregory.starikovsky
"Lots of tourists but up and coming. Great location on the water, sometimes traffic with the tunnel. "
