I don’t write reviews lightly, but this situation needs attention.My child has always been a consistent B student with no history of academic struggle. This year, in one specific classroom, his performance has dropped to the point of being at risk of failing. After months of trying to understand why, it’s clear this is not an effort issue—it’s tied to the classroom environment.There is a pattern of behavior in this class that is deeply concerning. My child and others have experienced frequent yelling, inconsistent and repeated discipline (including being penalized more than once for the same issue), and actions that feel retaliatory rather than instructional.More concerning, there have been reports of physical intimidation in the classroom, including incidents that were serious enough to be acknowledged by the school. That alone should not be happening in any learning environment.My child has also expressed that certain students, including athletes, are singled out in ways that directly impact their grades and ability to participate in school activities.This goes beyond a “strict teacher.” A structured classroom is one thing—an environment where students feel targeted, discouraged, or intimidated is another.I have escalated this to school leadership and expect it to be taken seriously. Families deserve to know when something like this is happening so they can ask the right questions and advocate for their kids.

My grandson attended Desert Willow in a special needs class. It was recommended that this was not the appropriate class for him. The class was violent, chaotic with students undressing, cussing, breaking school property, hitting the teacher and each other. After four months my grandson has adopted some of the same behavior. I don't see the school attend to all the students needs. The school is understaffed with underpaid employees. I would not recommend this school for any of it's classes.

As a graduate from this school, I always held hope. However, that hope was always diminished once the school practiced something wildly bizarre. I go by a preferred name, and for all four years of going to this school— not once did they respect that until I made an uproar after being publicly deadnamed in front of an audience numerous times. As a senior I made the choice to go to Northern Arizona University and the school never sent my official high school transcript to my university. I had to obtain an official copy myself and give it to my university since I had already moved away for college. This school is incredibly careless and despicable. I could count on one hand the teachers who actually made a difference in their students days, and those teachers realized their worth and left the school. The school segregates “Cambridge/AS” students and “general education” students, allows and encourages students who are in advanced classes to look down on the general education students as if they’re scum. There is typically no bullying or anything of the sort, however this school still has yet to catch up and has no regard whatsoever towards individuals in the LGBTQ+ community.
