4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThere are a lot of debates locally about whether or not to send children to West Chicago schools especially when living in a nearby town. As a parent who has had their child in a private school and in two of West Chicago elementary schools; WeGo33 is a great school district. Our son started in the early learning program where he had help from age 3/4 with speech. He then moved to Gary elementary to the Dual Language program but due to speech difficulties it was not a successful program for him. After 1 year out of district we transferred him back in and he started attending Indian Knoll. The teachers at IK have been helpful, compassionate, and helped him blossom. He is transitioning into middle school now and he will miss everyone at IK from the office staff, the janitors, to the teachers. Every person has helped him blossom and excel. Without their continued support he wouldn't be in advanced math and advanced reading. I appreciate the opportunities that he has had at IK including the Nora Project, and other unique opportunities to help him connect with others. One of the best aspects of attending WeGo33 is that they continually strive to stay up-to-date on the latest emotional learning, teaching options, and other technology/learning to ensure that children are getting the best education. My child has been able to grow in multiple ways, that similar aged students in neighboring districts have not. Any fear or concern you have about sending your child to a WeGo33 school is definitely not warranted in our opinion. We could not ask for better teachers than we have found. Our only complaint would have been the difficulty we had obtaining an IEP. Our son was originally on an IEP in Kindergarten and when transferred to a private school it was no longer continued. When we transferred him to IK, Mrs. Campos said that his IEP was no longer necessary since he hadn't had one for a year. We had to pay out of pocket for testing to get him a formal diagnosis and demand a 504 since she wouldn't allow him to have an IEP. He needed assistance with how to appropriately interact with peers (social skills) and she refused to give him that service. Under a 504, no service is provided and he doesn't have a disability. He has ADHD, which does require some accommodations. We attempted at a private social skills group but it wasn't as effective as having one in school. If your child has special needs of any kind or requires accommodations it could be challenging.Parent Review4y ago3 Reviews - Leman Middle School

I am more than happy to be sending my daughter here in a few years as I am seeing an amazing improvement every year.Parent Review1y ago16 Reviews - Check out schools near 519 E Lawrence Ave #233.

"Pretty nice neighborhood, neighbors are friendly. The streets are maintained, i feel comfortable walking my dog, the park and turtle splash are very wonderful places. I grew up here and we’ve only experienced one house burglary, and someone broke into my car (nothing was stolen) "

"Ive lived in this town over 40 years. Main Street, unfortunately, has a lot of empty business buildings, which I continue to hope will be bought (rented?) to add to the charm our downtown area used to have!"

"A very old fashioned neighborly feel. There’s a lot of people but you’d be surprised how many you know because of the many community events that are held. Great park and water park, close to train, and very central to other suburbs. You could be on the fox river or in downtown Wheaton/Glen Ellyn in a matter of 10 minutes either direction"
