5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son started at JMES in the middle of last year. At that time there was a change of teachers, and we were promised we would meet the new teacher, but that never happened. From the beginning, we noticed that communication was not good. Even so, for the 2025 school year we decided to give the school another chance to start fresh, but honestly the experience has not been what we expected. I don’t see good communication from the teacher to the parents. My son has always had very good grades, and in his current report he has excellent marks except in one class. I don’t think parents should only find out that their child is struggling when grades are released. The teacher should have communicated earlier so that we could provide reinforcement at home. We even wrote to the teacher to ask how he was doing, and the response was “excellent, he’s doing very well,” which reassured us. However, the grade did not match that response.Another important issue is that school activities are announced with very little notice, which makes it difficult for families to stay organized. In addition, my son had an incident where another student stole something from his backpack, and the teacher never contacted us or handled the situation according to my son. He also had problems with another student, and when my son tried to explain or express what happened, he was told it wasn’t his turn to talk. I think it is essential to listen to children, even if it’s “not the right moment,” because that doesn’t mean what they have to say isn’t important.I also believe parents should be notified when emergency drills take place. I find it inappropriate to only find out when picking up my son that they had a lockdown drill. Even if these are just practices, they should be communicated in advance so that parents are informed and prepared, since it creates unnecessary concern not knowing what is happening inside the school. My son is disciplined, follows study routines every day, and I do my best to make sure he feels good about his classes. He even sends me voice messages from school telling me what is going on because he feels the teachers don’t do anything. For this reason, I believe JMES needs more structure, better communication with parents, and greater attention from staff toward students in order to truly become a good school.Parent Review9mo ago11 Reviews - Liberty County High School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is a complete nightmare. It's more of a prison than an actual school and just being here feels very, very unsafe. The teacher don't really care about how the students are, the admin aren't very caring of how the students are doing and care more about phones.Student Review7mo ago13 Reviews - Midway Middle School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMidway middle school focuses on student behavior and not academics. As a current student myself, the staff constantly tell us about our behavior, which isn’t what school is for. School is for ensuring success in a scholar’s life through education, not discipline. In my opinion, Midway MS should clearly focus on making sure their teachers are actually teaching and not just writing referrals.Student Review1mo ago17 Reviews - Check out schools near 511 Norman St.

"Don’t care for living next to the military base. Also the economy here is not very strong. The schools do not have services for special education students like you would find in Savannah. "

"Calm and private. People say hello but they don’t really talk to you or get to know you. They just introduce themselves, if the live close enough, and wave."

"Awful. No one knows how to drive. People are unsafe. Roads are terrible and they will slap anything down on the ground instead of just doing it right. Traffic sucks at any time of day. "

"There are a lot of school age kids in the area. One side of the complex is more well kept than the other side.. Dumpster area has poor lighting so be careful when taking trash out and Vultures will be around it when there is dead food"

"Everyone is pretty friendly with dog owners. You see dogs almost everywhere so not many people have an issue with dogs. Also there’s enough neighborhood to walk the dog in. Wide open spaces which is awesome for the little furry pets. Enough space to play fetch with and take them on a walk. "

"The public transportation here is a joke. Bus schedule is set up where if you miss a bus, you have to wait an hour and a half for the next one. Taxis are so rude WHEN they answer the phone which they rarely do. "
