Description

Ideally located just off Yale Ave between Cornell and Rutgers and a short walk to Swarthmore College, 508 Harvard Avenue is a rare find. This charming old world brick and cedar Arts & Crafts home was built in 1910. Retaining many of its original details, the present owner has made $100,000 in thoughtful upgrades installing central air, new electric, completely renovating the kitchen and 2 of the bath rooms and opening rooms to accommodate a more modern floor plan. A wide brick path and manicured front yard provide a distinguished entrance to the home. Past the covered porch entry is a large reception room warmed by a brick fireplace. Mellowed hardwood flooring ushers you through the living room and dining room. Sunlight dances through the original leaded glass windows in both rooms. The updated kitchen has a European flair with its crisp white cabinetry, stainless appliances and distinctive herringbone patterned brick floor. There is also an updated half bath and a rear staircase to the second floor. A convenient door leads out back to the nicely landscaped and fenced in yard and a two car garage. The large enclosed porch off the foyer is a delightful place for morning reads and evening cocktails. Up the handsome main staircase to the second floor offering a main bedroom with lots of closet space and 3 secondary bedrooms, all featuring more of those beautiful hardwood floors and lots of natural light. An updated bathroom services this floor. A finished third floor with hardwood flooring has an additional bedroom and full bath. Just 7 minutes to the Swarthmore train station to Philly and walking distance to the park and College. Thoughtfully updated, conveniently located, this gem of a home succeeds brilliantly! "For being such a tiny town, Swarthmore does an excellent job of engaging the community with events all summer long. The only downsides are the lack of a local pub and the extreme taxes. "
  • Kristin A.
"This is a great neighborhood, just really expensive. Conveniently located near many major roadways. Public transportation is also easy "
  • Matt N.
"I work from home so I don’t need to go anywhere but close to public transportation and local highways. I like being near the airport. "
  • Enjoli R.
"People grow up here, then leave and they always come back to raise their families! One of the best school districts around."
  • Kristin G.
"Great for families with young kids, and pets. Excellent schools, and a very involved community."
  • dtmitchel
"I live in this neighborhood and find it a uniquely cozy, rural neighborhood surrounding Swarthmore College with many historic homes, woods, trees, flowers, birds of many species, deer, rabbits, squirrels, and fox. Swarthmore College tennis courts are to our house's immediate right and the soccer and rugby playing fields across the street stretch out beyond to the late nineteenth century train station (R3 Swarthmore stop). There is a quaint town with local businesses, restaurants, food co-op, and local library all run by local people."
  • engelman s.
"Lehigh Circle in Swarthmore is an idyllic setting for retiring and/or raising a family. There is a beautiful neighborhood park and the neighbors are top notch. Lehigh Circle is in Swarthmore but you don't pay the high Swarthmore taxes! The best of both worlds, I say!"
  • N
"This area is perfect for any family. Great neighborhood, easy walking distance to several different schools."
