I have worked around the United States as a teacher (coast to coast). Heritage Elementary School has been by far my favorite place to work. I also feel that it is the place where my best teaching (and therefore my students' best learning) took place. The students, families, and staff work really well together as a unit rather than as fragmented pieces. I am an educational doctoral candidate now and reflect on how many things this school does right (from my perspective and experience). I am forever impressed by the values and efforts put into making students feel safe, loved, supported, and challenged. In the face of enormous challenges, this school puts forth everything it can to give the best experience for students and families. As a teacher and education expert, I would send my own child here and would 100% recommend this school.

Low test scores on TCAP. This is my first year here and some of the teachers here do not put in the grades as soon as possible and some of the teachers favor some kids more than others sometimes classes. If you are planning to go here make sure you find out which teachers are good teachers. I sometimes get teases by some of the students here and the students here have their own little groups. The learning here is not so great I learned the stuff you learn as a Freshman in middle school.

I attended Pitts Middle School in 2007, and was a sixth grade student. My experience was absolutely terrible. I encountered quite a bit of racism, prejudice and intolerance. I was constantly bullied for my weight and my sexuality. The best thing my parents did was take me out. I flourished in highschool and got a full ride scholarship to college. Pitts (or whatever it is called now) helped me to see the harsh reality of the world after a wonderful time at Sunset Park, but having stayed there I don't know where I would have ended up, or what I would have done. DO NOT send your children to this school. It sounds as though it's gotten worse if nothing else.
