I used to attend this school. Within the past 5 years i completed grades 6-8 there. The teachers were nice, I felt supported academically and as a person from them, and have positive interactions with them to this day if I encounter them at an event such as a local football game or Cowboy Day. However, there were a few issues with this school. Moving to a small town is usually difficult as is, especially with the almost closed-minded nature of many of the people I've encountered. This shows a lot in the school, which functions similar to an elementary class up until 8th grade, the same people every day in every class every year. Cliques are even more prominent, as well as potential favoritism. I noticed in a few instances some students would be told off for certain behaviors whilst the favorites of rhe adult present could do the same, similar, or potentially worse behaviors with little to no consequences. In one instance the principal had told me off for being "disruptive" in a small classroom, and I had started crying (this was mainly due to my own personal emotional regulation.) However in a classroom of simikar size another student was acting similar to how I did, yet they were not told off and instead earned a laugh from him, which felt almost like rewarding the same behavior which had gotten me into tears. Also, in another instance a student was being bullied by a popular student, and when the victim brought it up and informed him the bullying worsened when she told he basically shrugged it off as some form of a natural consequence. While McCleary isn't the worst, it certainly isn't peefect either. There are positives and negatives. The only thing I hope for is for more acceptance, openminded-ness, and more care.
