About this House

We seek a third housemate to join us in high quality-of-life living in the Marina Bay area of Richmond. We are two stable, professional guys who work in technology. For the last few months, we've been looking together for just the right place to call our next home. What we have found is, we believe, pretty darn amazing. If you are looking to share and share alike a beautiful and ultra-functional space with two mellow, trustworthy and straightforward guys, please read on

We recently acquired the lease on a huge (2085 sq. ft.) four bedroom townhome in the Marina Bay area in Richmond. The place has recently been renovated and comes across as like-new. The upstairs consists of four bedrooms, an office, and two bathrooms. The downstairs boasts a kitchen, a breakfast room, a family room, a living room, a dining room, and of course, another bathroom. The place has an open floor plan, but these areas of the large downstairs can optionally be partitioned down the middle to make things more cozy. The gas fireplace in the living room works great, or so we've been told.

Outside, we have a very nice "just big enough" back yard that will be ideal for BBQing, hosting indoor/outdoor get togethers, or just hanging out in the fresh bay air. With the rear blinds open, the indoor space opens up even more by bringing in sunlight and incorporating the backyard into the total plan. In addition to two driveway parking spots and a two car garage, plenty of additional parking spots can be found on the quiet streets of the community. A full-size washer and dryer live in the garage. Regardless of what we might agree on regarding parking (see below), we will all have use of the garage for projects, bike and general storage, bike maintenance, etc.

Our home is situated within the Breakers gated community on the San Francisco facing side of the Marina Bay area. The main Bay Trail is about 50 yards away from our front door, making for great biking, running, and leisurely strolls, with striking views of San Francisco, the East Bay, and Marin. A community pool, hot tub, and outdoor lounging area are just across the street.

We are looking for a new friend to join us by occupying one of the two vacant bedrooms in the home. Your room can be minimally furnished with a nearly new queen size bed, or it can be unfurnished your choice. The fourth bedroom will be available for us all to use as either a guest bedroom, a second shared office, a gym, some combination of those things, or maybe something else entirely. It can be whatever we all agree we want it to be. The same goes for an office space that could easily be called a fifth bedroom. Room to spread out and do your thing should not be a problem in this home.

This home screams out to be proudly enjoyed by friends and family as well as the primary occupants. We hope that the home will make it easier for each of us to thrive. Our ideal would be to very much enjoy each other's company and to significantly support each other in living the best lives we can.

The base monthly rent for the opportunity to share this space with us is $1450. This price includes the shared use of one driveway spot, with long term parking being on-street. For additional rent, you could potentially have exclusive use of a spot on the driveway or your own space in the garage. There are a number of possible arrangements regarding parking. If you need exclusive use of a parking space, or want to know up front just how parking might work, talk to us about that. Exclusive use of the office space could be negotiated as well.

Some final odds and ends: The room is available now and we hope to have someone in by July 1. Your credit score and references will be our primary gauges as to your character, along with what we will come away with when we speak with you on the phone and meet you in person. Pets are something we'd rather not deal with. Unless you're the perfect candidate in every other way, needing to house your pet(s) here is probably a deal breaker. The cost of basic supplies (paper, cleaning and laundry supplies, etc.) and utilities (gas and electric, water, wi-fi and garbage) will be split equally between us. We haven't set it up yet, but we're thinking of having a cleaning service come in every two weeks, and we'll share that cost equally as well. You need to be able and willing to be a good citizen by keeping the place clean and uncluttered, and by being respectful and supportive of your housemates.
