  • Ronda R.
"Easy and centralized transportation routes. 5 mins from Eglin AFB, 8 mins from the airport. 10 mins from the beach. "
  • Pedro C.
"Shalimar is in need of sidewalks. Other than that, itโ€™s a pretty hot neighborhood to live in. People need to stop running stop signs"
  • Carrie S.
"Dog friendly neighborhood. All breeds have been seen here. Dog lovers all around. Owners obey leash laws which is great!"
  • Carrie S.
"Lots of dog lovers in the area and walkers throughout the day! Almost all dogs are on a leash, and we pick up after the dog goes potty. Great neighborhood overall, and kid/pet friendly."
  • Reid W.
"Not much in the form of public transit. Feel free to Uber though or drive yourself. Either will work. "
  • Byron76cross
"Itโ€™s easy to walk around and short drives... Eglin Blvd is pretty busy at times, but side streets are just fine."
  • Angelface10495
"I go from my house to daycare in nearby Valparaiso and than back down to Fort Walton Beach for work. It is a scenic commute. "

"Shalimar is an established community with an old town feel. Neighbors are good to each other and look out for each other too. The riff raff is not welcome. "
  • Angela H.

  • Angie H.

  • Terry
"New to the area but everyone is friendly. I want to retire in the area Iโ€™m the next 18 months. Small town but plenty of things to do. "
  • swansandhens
"Fun to do in the Longwood Subdivision: Birdwatching, pet walking, golf cart driving, fishing from the park pier, launching a boat. Sunsets from the house are breath-taking and the neighborhood is very quiet. Shalimar has several very nice restaurants and a large grocery store across the Shalimar bridge. The area located on the edge of Eglin Air Force Base."
