5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy oldest son has gone to Canadochly since he was in Kindergarten. With the exception of one teacher who we had issues with, his other teachers have all been exceptional. My youngest son started this year and is in Kindergarten now. He loves his teacher and has learned a lot from her. There's a lot that I love about this school. It's small and the staff is great about learning all the kid's names and even getting to know all the parents. When I come into the office, I don't even have to tell them my child's name because they know right away who my child is. Previous teachers that my oldest child had are constantly asking me how he is and how he's doing and remember him by name. The school always supplies everything my kids need at the beginning of the year. I haven't had to shop for school supplies the entire six years my kids have attended Canadochly. The only thing I've had to purchase are a few 3 ring binders since they have a habit of tearing and ripping. But pens, pencils, crayons have all been supplied to my children every year that they've attended Canadochly. The PTO puts on a really nice May Fair each year for the children. They have activities throughout the year that the kids can participate in. While there could always be more, I think the PTO does a great job with the activities they do plan and the field trips that they help fund. Now, my gripe. This school has no air conditioning. It gets darn hot in there. I felt awful sending my children into that at the beginning of the school year when I knew how hot it was going to be. I went to back to school night and honestly thought I was going to pass out from the heat. While I hate to see the school incur the expense for air conditioning for just 1-2 months of use, I wish there was something that could be done to cool the rooms when there is excessive heat days. All in all though, Canadochly has treated us well. My kids love the school and most of the teachers. Issues had been dealt with right away for the most part. And supplies seem to be in good shape for use. My oldest leaves this year for Eastern Middle School so I'm hoping they are as good.Parent Review9y ago6 Reviews - Eastern York High School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe best thing about EYHS is the community. This is because of teachers who treat the students like family and will go above and beyond to help any student who is having difficulty who is also willing to do the work. Switching schools can be a horrifying thing but the easygoing an open nature of the students made this transition a breeze and made me glad for the change. Everyone in all of my classes are all just wonderful and friendly people, the culture that the students have built is that if you are in our class we are going to accept you and be your friend. What needs to change is the principle Timothy Mitzel, repeatedly he has talked a big game about how rules and new policies need to be followed, then he just doesn't follow through. Since I have never had disciplinary actions taken against me, these big announcements that he makes are the only times I have any interaction with his authority, and when he doesn't follow through on what he says, his authority just becomes a joke.Student Review7y ago4 Reviews - Check out schools near 4880 E Prospect Rd #E.

"There is a dog park in the city and access to the rail trail can take dog walkers for miles. Some rentals don’t allow pets, unfortunately. "

"Easy access to grocery store. Close to main Highways. People keep to themselves in this area. Parking in the street sometimes is challenging since there are not enough parking and too many cars. Police comes around not quite often. Some kids in the area but it’s mostly adults living in this area. And I can’t think of anything else. Too many rooms for rent in the area that could attract not too good people. "

"I don’t like it very much. A lot of jobs are outside of the city and I wouldn’t want them in the city limit necessarily. I don’t like the factories that we do have in the city limits. But just outside the city limits would be nice. And our highways and roads are and have been in terrible conditions for a long time with only the best of neighborhoods getting a level and complete repaving. "

"I have lived here for 16 years and my husband has lived in this area bud whole life except for a few years when younger. We both love the area but quite frankly loathe the WY school district. So much so that it is the reason we are looking for a new home "

"It has its moments but for the most part I would say this isn’t the best place for people looking to settle down unless you live on the outskirts of town in town maybe not so much it’s nice to visit when they have events and stuff but I wouldn’t say living in town for a LONG/ Extended period of time is best for anyone looking to settle down and relax and just live Theo best life and I’ve been living here for 23yr granted that’s how old I am but me and my husband are definitely moving away!!!"

"High traffic areas need to keep young kids away. Street parking can be difficult to get specially on weekends. People don’t pickup after their dogs. Not sure about local schools since my kids are all grown up. But I hear schools are ok in this area"

"There is a lot of drug dealing amongst other things. Plus no one takes pride in keep the street/side walks clean . You can sweep and in less than 24 hours there is candy papers, soda bottles and cans and broken corona bottles. This is not a friendly neighborhood. People steal from your yard . "
