10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI don't write reviews often. I decided to do this time because I wanted to share my thoughts as an ASD mom, I wanted to spread out my words for parents who are looking for a school for their special need kids. PS164 has a great Horizon program which is supervised by Principal Steinberg. She is very passionate about her work. You will see her everywhere at the school. She gets involve for every little bit. She listens what parents' needs and thoughts. She recruits good teachers and good staff under her team. Everyone from this school is willing to help. My son has been in this school for almost one year, he makes so much progress for his behavior, Speech, OT and PT. If they notice the child's academic behind, they will offer afterschool program to support the kid's needs. They also have many clusters such as painting, drawing, playdate, Yoga and etc. You named it and they have it.I am so glad I make the right decision for putting my son to PS164. However, this school is located in Boro Park. You have to deal with the traffic congestion. It's very frustrating when you need to pick up your child from school. This is a great school and I highly recommend.Parent Review2y ago2 Reviews - Jhs 220 John J Pershing

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageReview for John J. Pershing 220:Unfortunately, my experience at John J. Pershing 220 has been far from positive. One major issue that stands out is the front door lady. From the very first interaction, she was incredibly rude and unhelpful. Instead of offering a warm welcome or assistance, her dismissive attitude made me feel unwelcome every time I entered the school. It's hard to understand why someone with such a poor attitude is in charge of the front desk, as it creates a bad first impression for anyone coming through the door.On a more positive note, the basketball coach is outstanding. He’s genuinely committed to his players’ success both on and off the court. His passion for coaching is evident, and he creates an environment where students feel motivated and supported. The coach is truly one of the few highlights of my time at this school. However, the lack of care from many of the teaching staff is a serious issue. Several teachers seem disinterested in their jobs, and it’s clear they aren’t putting in the effort needed to engage with students. The lack of passion from some educators makes it harder for students to connect with the material and find inspiration in their studies.Additionally, there seems to be a prevailing bias in certain areas of the school. Whether in the classroom or during extracurricular activities, it's noticeable that some students receive preferential treatment, which creates an uncomfortable and unfair atmosphere for others. In conclusion, while the basketball coach is a bright spot at John J. Pershing 220, the front door lady’s behavior and the lack of dedication from several teachers really drag down the overall experience. It’s disappointing that a school with potential is being held back by these issues.Other Review1y ago15 Reviews - Check out schools near 4802 12th Ave.

"I don’t think they would like it because there may not be a dog run nearby. Dogs are very common here. People who consistently pick up after their dog, not as common. "

"While there are better paces to raise your children. You can still do quite well raising them here. Some neighborhoods are better than others but ultimately it’s good, strong parenting that matters most. "
