Description

Historic Bloomington, IN Log Cabin Don't miss this rare opportunity to own what is said to be the oldest such structure in Monroe County still on its original site, lovingly restored and updated.

Originally patented in 1816, this home on 31.83± acres is just 9 miles from downtown Bloomington in a secluded setting in close proximity to Ellettsville. The Home Restored and renovated with a master bedroom and bath addition, the historic log home honors the past while looking towards the future. It features 3 bedrooms and 2.5 baths, a large enclosed porch, covered front porch, re-chinking between the logs and updated electric and plumbing systems. LP gas, well water and septic are in place, and city utilities are available.

A shelter house/carport provides covered parking options. The Land Ideal hobby farm acreage is fenced and perfect for cattle, horses, chickens or other livestock with approx 7.5 acres of hayfields and 18 acres of pasture. The circa-1830 vintage barn provides both character and functionality, and an additional mobile home site is also in place.

With its convenient location near downtown Bloomington in the Ellettsville/Edgewood School District, this land is also well-suited for development options. Entrances to the property can be found on Thomas Road, Miami Street and South Deer Run.

The History Over the past centuries this farm has been known as the Rueben Coffey, John Marr Berry, Dr. O.K. Harris, George Berry and John and "Happy" Bastin Farm after its various owners. Many local residents are descendants of the original owners, Reuben Coffey and Naomi Hayes Coffey. "Safe neighborhoods. Kids walk home from school. There are parades and festivals. There are block parties in a few neighborhoods. "
  • Danimarie728
"By car and it’s not far from Bloomington. Rural transit does run in the area but not sure how many stops it makes "
  • Quiltertwincat
"It’s short. I drive a car to work and the grocery. There’s no public transit. I work very early in the morning so there is hardly any traffic."
  • Jessica
"Almost everyone here owns a dog and you see people around the neighborhood walking their dogs all the time. "
  • Nicolenethery
"Several kids and pets known in the area. Great school district! Friendly neighborhood/neighbors but not over the top. "
  • Makenzibower
"I’ve lived here since I was 4 with my family and it’s a very close and quiet community with good schools. "
  • Eomwright
"I’ve lived here for 10 years and find it to be very nice. The people are friendly and there are plenty of places to walk around and enjoy the area."
  • Toni A. T.
"I lived in Arrowhead for 2 years around 2009-2010(2011-ish) there are ups and downs to living in the neighborhood. There are quite a few people living around the area who do not respect their neighbors, I have heard gun shots and constant yelling while I was living there but again, that was over 4 years ago! We went to look at this home on Sacajawea Ct and it was quiet, the neighbors seemed quiet and calm. I would recommend some homes in Arrowhead for people with children because its convenient to the elementary schools and also easy to walk around the neighborhood for some fresh air! "
