About this House

This is a good room for a single person or couple relocating to the area, having an internship or in need of transitional housing.
The room is completely furnished. You will need to provide your own linens and towels. It is a single room with direct entrance to the street. It has a microwave and fridge but no full kitchen. I live in the rest of the house and enter through the garden. There is parking on the street right in front of the house
 Marietta is a spectacular and historic town. Very walkable, quiet, safe, and friendly.
A bus stop is right around the corner for buses going into Lancaster city. An Amtrak station is about 5 miles away which will take you to Philadelphia, New York or west to Harrisburg and Pittsburg.
Harrisburg International Airport is less than a half-hour away. It is very easy to fly to and from and so, if you are coming and going, I recommend it. You may pay more but it has rocking chairs in the lobby and I hear now they have a tractor on display. What is there not to like?
 Grocery stores and other shopping are about 10-15 minutes from here. The cities of Lancaster and York are within 20 minutes. Uber is available.
In town there are a number of good restaurants, a pizza shop, deli, cafe, bike shop, laundromat, mini markets, a pet supply store, a very good real estate agent, and a whole lot of friendly people.
 Right across the street and over the train tracks and beside the Susquehanna River is one of may entrances to a 16 mile -mostly paved -bike/hiking/walking path. It runs 3 miles south to Columbia and 13 miles north. In Columbia there is a river outfitter that has kayaks, tubes, and bicycles to rent and conducts river tours. There is rock climbing 1/2 mile from here. Lancaster County has many, many tourist attractions. It is very beautiful and lots of things for children to do.
 Be forewarned (!) that we do have freight trains that go through across the street between the trail and Front St. People generally get used to them in a few days.
