Housing options have expanded with construction of several condo/apartment buildings and rehabbed condos that have the industrial charm of a working class neighborhood fitted with modern amenities. Lawrenceville is a long walk or a 10 minute bike ride to downtown. It is located along the river just beyond the popular Strip District. For perspective, downtown spans 2nd to 10th streets, the Strip stretches from 11th to 30th, and Lawrenceville starts on 31st down to about 50th. Shopping and dining options are mostly devoid of chain-style options, with high-quality local boutiques, eateries, and retail shops dotting the main corridor.. save for a Wendy's and Subway at 40th). Parking can be difficult on the weekends, but is much easier than the crowded South Side. Crime is still a challenge in some parts of Lawrenceville. Most of the trouble comes from teenagers with too little to do. And it's not uncommon to see one or two alcohol- and/or drug-addled locals travelling Butler Street on foot.
