As a recent graduate of Seguin, I only have the best things to say. My teachers were incredible (except for a VERY select few which you’re going to find anywhere). I learned so many life lessons there and there was so many things to get involved in. I was in sports, student government, many clubs, and even piano. I also graduated with my Phlebotomy AND Certified Nursing Assistant certification because I went down the health track. Now that I am in college (Baylor University) I am so far ahead that I could graduate a semester to a year early because of the Dual Credit classes I was able to take at Seguin High School. I cannot possibly recommend this school and district enough. I have seen every side of this school, the good, the bad and the ugly and I would still choose to spend my school days there every time. I went to at least two different schools/districts (because of the military) before gathering the necessary paper work BY MYSELF in middle school because I wanted to transfer to Seguin so badly.

I subbed for this school in 2024-2025 school year and the administration is more concerned about being friends with the students. I’ve personally heard him tell a student if they didn’t stop doing something they would get ISS. The student continued and the administrator just walked away and used the same lines on another student. No follow through. Now, I decided to sub again as it is a new year and hoped things would change. 2025-2026 school year. Same administration, same results. I had a student walk out of my class and they just returned him, just to walk out again. The same day I had a student not listen to my directions of putting their backpack in the back of the class (a school policy, not something I made up). So I called the office, per school instructions. By the time the admin came in the student put their bag where it should’ve been. So the admin looked at me and said well the bags in the corner I don’t need to be here. Not wanting to talk to the student and reinforce the rules and that they should be followed. The same day I had another class come in and spray perfume. I got an excruciating headache and the children wouldn’t be quiet. I called the office and they said they would send someone down. Suprise surprise, they didn’t. But I’m expected to stay in this class where the smell is and cover their class while I have this headache that won’t go away because the smell is lingering. I’m sure the student sprayed it on their desk, it lasted the whole day. I’m in tears and I will NEVER sub at this school again. My vision keeps blacking in and out because of my headache. This is so sad, and they wonder why there’s a shortage in teachers and now substitutes.

This is one for the books, I amongst many other parents are not only disappointed but also loosing faith that the staff actually enjoys or takes their job seriously. We haven’t made it through the first quarter and there is minimal effort from my child’s teacher on everything happening at school. They want you to use a different app for everything but the teacher can’t respond in a decent time frame or even help walk you through anything, they seem unaware of what the school offers for the children, I’ve received flyers about events after they have happened, when you ask a question about what your child is doing in class or if there is anything that could use improvement, don’t expect a response other than they are doing good while they give you a blank stare. The front desk person will be sure to tell you how she doesn’t like the no phone policy. The school will ask for you to fill something out multiple times and email it to you. But don’t expect that if you respond to the email or fill out the link that they will count it. It seems as though there is no proper communication between staff, you’ll get a quick oh we will make this better and the second the conversation is over so is the effort on their part. This school could use a serious refresher course and making sure we are communicating with parents/guardians so we actually know what our child(ren) are doing. Our child was obsessed with school and learning new things. They come home bored and say this is all stuff they learned last year. We were told this is one of the best schools to go to in Seguin but if this is the best we can offer to our children we as a community need to come together and make a change. Our children are the future and they deserve better, much better than this. It’s exhausting fighting for your kids education and seeing no effort to make a better, clearer, organized environment but this doesn’t stop here. I myself and the parents of these children won’t back down. If we don’t stick up for our children who will.
