"Elkin has quite a few public parks, including a dog park, for families to enjoy. The rec center is a great place to get started with community activities & the library is awesome! My favorite time of year is fall & when Halloween arrives, it’s so fun for everyone to go trick or treating through the town!"
  • Melinda S. J.
"The school system here is great, and Elkin has many wonderful attributes that any family or single person would enjoy. There are many conveniences as well as still having that small town feeling. Recreation abounds, as does the wildlife with mountain views nearby, and the beach a short 3 and a half to 4 hour drive. Elkin really has it all. "
  • Grayson
"People are judgmental and hypocritical. As well as small minded. Elkin is not a place I enjoyed growing up in and I can’t wait to get out. "
  • Guadalupe R.
"The schools here are close together and one of the best. I am a graduate from all three schools. My oldest has started going there and she loves it."
  • Abbey F.
"I’ve lived here for 8+ years and it’s a nice place to live but is also drug infested so it just depends what you’re into "
  • Laurie R.
"I live and work in the town of Elkin, NC People friendly great community and schools rand very good. The hospital is local and has been rated #1 for obstetrics in the area. You can walk with your dog anytime of the day or night and the only thing you may have a problem with is an occasional skunk. Kids ride bikes and families are growing. Wide range of different people from singles to couples retired and growing families."
  • cprallen
"Elkin is a great little town with a lot of character. Lots to enjoy, especially from a neighborhood near the park or downtown, from tennis, gym, exercise trail, to nature trails, biking trails, and a downtown area that is alive and well, with a great little bookstore (Diana's), restaurants, the chocolatier (Blue Ridge Chocolates). The people are very friendly and neighbors watch out for each other, without being intrusive. The town has a thriving arts culture, with artists, musicians, writers, and craftspeople performing and displaying their wares at various festivals (the Wine Festival is awesome!) and about town. Kid friendly town, with some of the best schools in the state, as well. Even though I didn't grow up there, I miss our neighbors and the community feel of the town. "
