3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageLong Middle is a great school. With such a small population, the school is a very tight-knit community. The class sizes are small and have a great teacher to student ratio with the average at about 20. The teachers at this school prepare engaging lessons and are extremely motivated to make sure that all kids succeed.Other Review8y ago7 Reviews - Roosevelt High School

1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am a parent that currently has a student at Roosevelt. I feel it had vastly improved over the years. I attend every parent-teacher conference, email, have one on one talks with the teachers and other staff and everyone I’ve encountered have been very pleasant and helpful. The teachers really want to teach and guide and not just show up for work. I believe the school is overall getting better and offers a lot of opportunities for students for college, trade schools, and social/emotional growth.Parent Review3y ago2 Reviews - Woodward Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI agree with the previous poster. This school does not have a steady leadership in place. . Last school year, the year was started with one principal that was eventually replaced with a different one around the middle of the school year. There are too many changes in principals here, and maybe some teachers too. Plus, the teachers are so overwhelmed with paperwork and bad kids in the room, they have no time for personalized anything with your child. They are too busy putting out fires, and trying to calm the storm. Ive seen some very disrespectful kids, talking back to the teachers and displaying thuglike behavior and bullying other children, and there is nothing done. Kids are roaming and running the halls. My child has said that some of them slam doors, throw things, and then walk out of class. IN AN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. This is a shame. The teachers hands are tied. Some bright spots however, are the preschool classes, and the kindergarden classes. If you send your child here, I probably would not send them past kindergarden ( or even preschool since it is free). If you can afford it, I would definitely move and put them in a better school after they attend free preschool and maybe the kindergarden The teachers are doing the best that they can, but they simply cannot keep up with all of the paperwork they have to do and the large numbers of bad problem kids with no hometraining that they have to deal with in their class every day. Mines will be leaving this school when I move in a couple of months, and we can't wait.Parent Review10y ago5 Reviews - Check out schools near 4529 Alaska Ave.

"I love how diverse the neighborhood is. Neighbors say hello and watch out for each other. I walk at night but do stay between certain blocks, I wouldn’t walk Meramec towards Grand at night, but the inner neighborhood is good. Wish people and the city trash trucks did a better job on the litter though, sad to see airplane bottles, chicken wing bones, and broken glass all of over the streets. "

"I have easy access to the rest of the city via the highways conveniently located nearby. I can take surface streets to areas like South Grand for groceries, restaurants, and shops. It's also very walkable if you need small items or a bite to eat."

"It's important to know your neighbors: thankfully, it's easy to do! There are generations of families living houses or blocks from each other, with many residents having been here long-term. My block is very friendly and culturally diverse. We socialize often. People are fairly helpful. This is a real neighborhood."

"There's a nice public pool to walk to and plenty of parks. If you find a decent block with good neighbors, it's a great place to settle. My block is quite culturally diverse with people of all ages."

"Lived here for a year. Friendly people nice quiet street. There’s a metal company that brings way too many big trucks to the neighborhood. They are always in the way and destroy the streets. "

"Amazing architecture. Very convenient to downtown, and freeways. There's a lot of redevelopment going on. I moved here from Minneapolis and since I've been here I've been seeing a lot of vacant homes being renovated and blocks are being redeveloped. I think this could become the Boston of the Midwest. "
