An old storage shed and the old "out-house" still stands. The property is in what was once known as the famed historic Appleton Community and is emersed in rich history. This property is only two houses down from Appleton's three-story "Big Red General Store" which is now an official tourist destination. This 1800's era store is a stop on the Quilt Trail that draws visitors to sites of historical and economic significance. This store, which carried everything that could be found in a first class dry goods, grocery, hardware and drug store housed the fanciest soda fountain in the South. The store is being restored to its earlier splendor. A "stone's throw" from this property is the gathering place for local musicians. Each Sunday afternoon the hollow comes alive as musicians "make music" together. They bring their musical instruments including banjos, fiddles, and guitars to play and sing the evening away. The winding country road that this property is located on ends at Sugar Creek. This area of Sugar Creek, within walking distance of the property for sale, is also an official historical site. It is the place of the Civil War battlefield at Sugar Creek which was one of the last battles of the Civil War. Many relics, such as swords, cannon balls, mini balls and belt buckles have been discovered in the area. No where else could one find such abundant history in such a peacefully quiet, secluded country setting.
