Compared to other schools I've been to this one is definitely the best one! For as long as I've been to this school there's surprisingly not a lot of fights or any bullying I've heard about. The school lunches are certainly better than other schools offering a lot of options each day! (The salads are really good btw.) All the staff I've interacted with are very respectful and caring, you can tell the staff love doing their job and appreciate their students. The schoolwork is definitely less harsh than my old middle school and you definitely don't have to worry about having a lot of homework if you pay attention in class. There's also a ton of clubs and sports/activities that are very welcoming. If you are new or a 7th grader just know that you don't have to be nervous as long as you are responsible. You don't have to be extremely perfect at each class to get an A, all of them should be decently easy for the average middle schooler! :)

This school offers the top academic and music programs in the area, and is one of the best high schools in the state. Students also have great opportunities in athletics and drama. The administration, faculty and community are dedicated to providing the best for every student.

Due to the excellent school ratings for the Pleasant Valley (IA) school district, there is a high demand for new housing to be built so that people can move into this district. With a large surge of new homes build and sold, new families moving in almost daily for the 'nice part' of Bettendorf, the student-to-teacher ratio for the elementary schools is now closer to 25:1 (yes that's correct) due to overcrowding of the elementary schools. Our child had 26 children in his classroom and one teacher. The entire school ran out of chairs for kids to use because every single chair was needed in the classrooms, library, and so forth. Just be cautioned for new families moving to this part of Iowa that the Pleasant Valley school district is growing faster than new schools are being built, and the school district seems very reluctant to understand or want to deal with the issue because 'new schools are expensive'. Bettendorf will happily allow the rapid building of new homes and businesses, but they're very slow on infrastructure projects to accommodate traffic pattern changes and adjusting public schools to that same fast growth. If you move to this school district, your child is not guaranteed a seat at one of the elementary schools, even if your home is within the boundary. We experienced this issue in 2017 and the situation has not improved. You may be asked to have your child move to an open spot at another school, likely in Le Claire, until a future school after being on the waiting list with other families.
