3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child goes to this school and the racism in the school is outrageous my child is half black half white. The students be calling her the . N word And the assistant principal or principal don’t address the racism issue also is a lot of bullying little groups ganging up on single students. I wanna try to address the issue with the principal the assistant principal didn’t want to talk about it and they walked off. And I also want to mention that my daughter is a straight A student and more on the quiet side, however yesterday I even had three grown-ups waiting for my daughter after school to address her she is a 13-year-old girl . Kids shouldnot be scared to go home after school by themselves thinking that grown-ups are going to wait on them after school to intimidate them. The school has no control over the student or they communication with the parents is definitely failing.Parent Review11mo ago9 Reviews - Ps 199 Maurice A Fitzgerald

"I am not a member of the community here, but the best thing to know, that this is a very very quiet place to live. Even though the train is next to you, and the firefighters place are behind you, it is so quiet because most people living here are grownups not young kids."

"Lots of different cultures. Great food. Always something to do. A bit of everything. Love the variety and small town feel. Great access to Manhattan. Can get a bit loud on weekends/holidays/etc. Nothing out of this world or overly scary."

"I've lived in Sunnyside for 18 years. It has the best NYC has to offer. A quick ride to Manhattan, but all you need is in the 'hood. Great restaurants, bars, & services. The one downside is lack of green space, but there are a few parks and the huge old-growth trees in Sunnyside Gardens make up for it. There's a lovely green market every Saturday as well as regular community events. Overall it's great, diverse community; quintessentially Queens! "

"I love living in Sunnyside! I moved here in the 90's (in my 20's) because it was affordable, but I never thought I would still be living here in 2020 and raising a family here. It is an amazing community with beautiful tree-lined streets in Sunnyside Gardens, farmers market, wonderful parks, restaurants... You get the best of suburban living and urban living combined."
