Description

THE COTTAGE IS UNDER CONTRACT Any house is unique, but this is especially true of the Flying Jib. It is a classy old summer cottage. The operative word is “summer”. Almost exactly half of it is not insulated. But it had a very high-quality addition from 1991. It is about 400 yards from the ocean. The property includes a strip of land fifty feet wide and 1300 feet long to Herrick Bay. So, this means beach property? Not exactly but this certainly gives the owner the rights associated with shore property. Rather than unload it to a builder, the seller wants to sell it to a family that is looking toward the future; even to the grandchildren. That is kind of place it has been. The marketing is based upon a series of videos. The videos are a pretty stark expose of a complex piece of real estate. There are 16 of them and they are about 45 minutes long. They can be reached at:

Please understand that the videos are not optional.

  • Carol S.
"Natural beauty everywhere. Cultural events many--music, lectures, art galleries and book stores. Good restaurants in the summer. Low cost of living, especially food. A car is essential. Each small town has a lot of civic pride, and have farm market days in the summer. Brooklin has The Cave--a wonderful place to find the perfect bottle of wine, the best cheese selection in the state and very friendly. We have been vacationed here for more than 20 years and would live here if not so removed from our other family members. Winters are much loved by the locals, but I think some might find it a little isolating. Walking is only a challenge on the main roads--no sidewalks in most places. You don't have to live on the water to have access to it. There is great sailing and kayaking and public access to most ponds and bays."
