5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI, as a student attending this school, think that Seaside Middle School (SMS) is a pretty good public middle school. If you're looking for some type of pretty landscape, neat, perfect school, then you should be searching in the "private schools section". There is cursing, but I highly doubt other middle school students don't curse. The technology is pretty updated, students are all given a free laptop (which we all have to return to the school after the school year), the smart boards and stuff are all pretty new, and...... Next year we will be having two electives a day and there are plenty of choices, I'd say around 15 or so? There's Orchestra and Band (beginning and advanced classes) and Jazz Band (which is advanced-advanced Band), Computer Science (advanced and beginning), Choir, Ceramics, Art (painting, sketching, etc.), Japanese and Korean classes, Dance, Leadership, Photography, Digital Arts (designing school clothing, website, etc.), Psychology, Creative Writing, Film Study, AVID, SMS Editorial (online yearbook creating), Weight Training, Wide World of Sports, Outdoor and Wilderness Science, and Garden Science. (There's more I think) The teachers are wonderful, and the students are pretty nice (unless you offend someone for no reason). Overall, I definitely think that your child or you should come to this school and see how it is. By the way, we're always the winning team in basketball, soccer, and other sports so...... ;)Student Review6y ago - Del Rey Woods Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis has been a great school and a great experience for my son. Everyone here is welcoming, down to earth, hardworking, humble and have a great sense of community. Despite having a high ratio of ESL learners their test scores are are quite strong, which shows the effort that staff and teachers put into their students. My son has found the curriculum to be too easy and school a little boring. I also think kindergarteners shouldn't have so much homework but I guess they wouldn't have the high grades they do without it. Aside from these minor issues, it has been a good school overall.Parent Review7y ago - Monterey High School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AveragePrincipal does not support teachers. Teachers are not qualified. Too many subs. Students are not safe. There have been multiple fights and race was a factor. Very sad.Other Review4y ago - Check out schools near 426 Palm Ave.

"It’s loud, unsanitary, and not a great place to live. I’ve lived here my whole life and there’s constant noise, never quiet in the area I live in and my neighbors aren’t nice "

"4 minutes down the hill, no traffic. Tuesdays it gets a little backed up from the elementary school meal pickup, but no complaints. Many other streets to take with no additional time. "

"We are close to everything in our neighborhood, so our commutes to work, school, and various stores are all less than 10 minutes away on surface streets. We don’t even have to use the freeway if we don’t want, so tourist traffic doesn’t affect us. We love being close to everything!"

"They’re very pet friendly and easy when it comes to finances. Wonderful landlord and great neighbors. The curb appeal is a big deal and that is great for those who want company over without the embarrassment of messy neighbors. Quiet low crime community and the beach is within walking distance! "

"I really like the diversity in this multicultural community. My family moved to this neighborhood, and since have seen the rental and purchase price of properties soar. I mean, it's gotten quite ridiculous for folks to get in to anything, if not already established with an existing (and much more affordable) situation. "

"We've lived in this neighborhood for 28 years and would not consider leaving. It's part of the Seaside "horseshoe". "
