I’m writing this review for families in Soquel and the surrounding areas considering Mountain Elementary.Mountain Elementary is a small school with one class per grade and the potential to be a strong, close-knit community. However, that potential has not been fully realized in recent years.There has been significant teacher turnover, raising concerns about consistency and stability for students. In my experience, this appears to be connected to challenges in school leadership. I have found the administration, under Principal/Superintendent M. Tresham, to be lacking in support for both staff and parents.Communication and responsiveness to concerns have been limited, and there is a sense among some families and staff that raising issues is discouraged.As a result, the school no longer feels like the stable, highly regarded option it once was. Families who value strong leadership, staff retention, and open communication may want to take these factors into consideration when evaluating this school.

Amazing school! All the teachers are respectful and when a student loses something, the teachers help find it.

Soquel High School is amazing! It starts with the admin and staff, includes the students, the district and the community. I am a teacher and see a lot of the forest for the trees. I love the way the admin and staff honor the students and their work, offer unending support, and communicate with parents when needed.As part of the school site council, I get to see, and be a part of, the behind the scenes process. I have the honor of working with admin, staff and students to during these meetings and always feeling so proud and honored to be a part of Soquel High's process.
