5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child also attends this school through the ASD Nest program, and while no school is perfect, I feel it’s important to share a more balanced perspective. The ASD Nest program is the reason many families, including mine, are here. It provides resources, structure, and support for children on the spectrum that other schools in the district simply do not offer. The teachers, therapists, social workers, and counselors go above and beyond — their dedication is evident. Yes, the last few years were difficult, but all schools faced major disruptions during the pandemic, and many principals struggled with decisions about reopening. It wasn’t unique to this school.Middle school years are challenging in general, no matter the district or program. Adolescence brings testing of boundaries, and while yes, some students make poor choices, I have personally seen staff members step up to redirect and mentor kids. The school is making clear strides in tightening structure, addressing discipline more consistently, and ensuring students feel supported but also accountable. Progress doesn’t happen overnight, but I believe the effort is real.I also want to highlight the strong sense of community here. The school reflects East Harlem’s diverse culture and resilience, and while that may come with challenges, it also brings richness and opportunities for kids to grow socially and emotionally in ways that more “prestigious” schools may not provide. My child has found belonging here, and that is priceless. The ASD Nest program, in particular, is a gem. It’s not just about academics — it’s about social development, life skills, and building confidence. For my family, this has been a game changer, and I know other parents who feel the same.No school is without flaws, but to say that this is a place where kids can’t succeed would be unfair. With the right support, involvement, and advocacy — which the staff do welcome from parents — students here can thrive.Parent Review8mo ago3 Reviews - Manhattan Center for Science & Mathematics

"Like: plenty of dogs to keep your dog engaged and socialized. Dislike: most dog owners do not pick up after their dogs. Occasionally may encounter an aggressive dog. Make sure your dog is leashed at all times. Building owners do not put down dog friendly ice melt. "

"In the summertime every year, we have the Italian festival the church and the neighborhood also has a yearly festival with the mother Saint. We also have carnivals so they block off the streets so the kids can come and enjoy themselves as well as the family people come from all over to enjoy the festivities and the neighborhood The streets are closed. There is a lot of cops in the neighborhood to make the area safe during the festivities and some move the festivities to Jefferson Park, which is only two blocks away. The neighborhood is changing for the better and it’s growing. it is a safe neighborhood to live. The people are always smiling very polite supermarkets and family owned. Restaurants are very lively at night time. The food is great. Everything is close by the transit MTA and the neighborhood is really quiet at night. nice place to live great neighborhood. what I also love about is that no one hangs out in front of the buildings no one is cooking out. The building is a very quiet. Everyone is respectful to each other’s neighbors because it’s a working community. and for the past couple of years, the neighborhood has been really safe and you can always find parking in the street whether it’s in your neighborhood on the same block or whether it’s on another avenue or even two blocks away the neighborhood is safe to walk to and from. I was born in this neighborhood. I grew up in this neighborhood and when I left, I ended up coming back and as of today, I am still looking for an apartment in this neighborhood. My work is in the city so I decided to come back to the neighborhood and enjoy and remember what I used to see when I was a kid."

"Heavy traffic. No place to park. Too many people around. Noise level increased with the constructions. Restricted areas for construction that are lasting over decades without an end. Prices of restaurants and markets are in an all-time high. Cost of living took off to the roof!"

"The neighborhood may not be the safest or cleanest of them all but the housing is affordable. There are stores on almost every corner and many super markets. You are close to the 6 train line and a few different buses like the M115 and BX99. You are close by the FDR highway so parking can sometimes be hard to find if you own a vehicle that is. But overall even though this place may not be ideal for you it’s a place to stay until you are able to afford for another place of your choice."
