"It’s a VERY dog friendly neighborhood. Bring your dog and I’m sure it will tell You to move here!! If you don’t the dog will move here without you!!"
  • Kparamore1
"Driving in St James is safe. It takes 12-15 minutes to get to Southport from the marina and 10 minutes to get to oak island beaches. 45 minutes to Wilmington. "
  • Gstevens---1
"Relatively safe neighborhood with golf, tennis, Marina, ocean near by. 5 restaurants with varied menus. Home architecture shows a lot of variation. A close ride to the village of Southport..quaint shopping and dining village."
  • Gstevens0001
"There is nothing to dislike. They require that you pick up after your dog. We have several dog activity parks. "
  • Maggiehoney92
"Built our home 4 years ago, everyone was so welcoming. You can be very involved or as little as you like. Very friendly neighborhood "
  • James G.
"Peaceful beauty. This home is located on one of the more perfect spots within the St. James community, overlooking it's signature golf course exactly where a small lake and picturesque bridge can be enjoyed each day, as you sip your favorite beverage in the warm sun and breeze, admiring the birds as they saunter about the quiet breathtaking landscape. At night, the sky is so clear that the Milky Way galaxy, which contains our Solar System, can be seen so brightly from your rear deck, it is a star gazers delight. You will never want to leave. You will always feel so welcome during your daily activities; playing golf, swimming or going to the private beach. Not to forget tennis, for those with that preference. And making new friends is never difficult here at St. James Plantation, one of the most neighborly, friendly, picturesque and safe communities in the United Sates. North Carolina has some of the world's most famous beaches, where the soft white sand feels so good to the touch. Just imagine all the wonderful sights and activities you will have at your fingertips, EVERY DAY! The historic Southport village is truly a blessing for those casual days of strolling about town, window shopping, browsing galleries and bookshops, before eating at one of the countless cafes or restaurants with your friends, family or out of town guests. They will never want to leave either. Whoever is lucky enough to live in this area, will feel the love and positive energy emanating from all directions. "
  • Ben S.
"Great area for golf, boating, dining and entertainment."
  • IBHistoryTeacher
"This is an outstanding home in an extremely good location! It has a fabulous view of the fairway that will never be obstructed! Great walking paths, near 4 excellent golf courses, swimming pools, and close to the beaches at Oak Island! The weather is always good and the back porch offers a wonderful relaxation point! The house has 3 bedrooms plus an upstairs den that could easily be turned into another bedroom! The house is cable ready and internet connected so you are hooked up with the world around you! Great for working at home! It is in a quiet neighborhood with absolutely NO crime of any kind! You are a 10 minute drive from excellent shopping and great restaurants (recommend "Mr. P's" for dinner and the "Dry Street Pub" for lunch!) and a 15 minute drive from the fabulous Oak Island Beaches (where St. James has a private access only Beach pavilion with pool)! Myrtle Beach, SC is just a 45 minute drive South and Wilmington, NC the same distance Northeast. This home is a bargain at any price and if I wasn't working overseas I'd jump at it!!"
  • Tony
    "excellent retirement area---golf- beaches-pools exercise area-walking trails-marina & boating--restaruants -shopping --also near Myrtle Beach--pet friendly."
  • Griffin
"We are thrilled with St. James as a retirement area. I can walk on the beach each morning without having the hurricane and other problems you get with beach front property. The whole area is very dog-friendly. And the Univ. of NC in Wilmington, about 30miles away, offers courses at a reduced rate for us retirees. The people are very friendly - both natives and transplants. The golf course has native plants and low water & pesticide usage. It's cheaper to live here - NC doesn't tax pensions. Our retirement lifestyle is top notch, with lots to do, fun people to do it with, and all for less than the cost of living in northern Virginia, where we came from."
