I am a sophomore in the band program at mesa high. I would like to say I enjoy this school but there needs to be some updates. The school board focuses on student athletics, don't get me wrong but there are so many other great programs at this school, for example, our clubs, the performing arts program, our AP classes, our FAFSA program, etc... But here's the thing teachers are great, except the students, but the board does not. I will say that I was not doing ok mentally but we have our awesome social workers, and they will help. This school also helps with getting college credits early WE have the ACE program and many dual enrollment classes. One thing I wish they did is to give the band a senior poster, because other schools do it, all of the sports have senior posters, so why can't we? The seniors put in lots of hard work for what they do. The teachers here are great I just wish the school board would focus on other things than sports. They need to acknowledge some students, not the student body.

Johnson used to be a great A+ school. Teachers and families stayed at Johnson. Now, teachers and long time families are leaving, due to poor leadership and closed door policies. Under the guise of "safety", parents are no longer welcome on campus. The new principal does not support teachers or families when behavior concerns are brought up (over and over again). Classrooms are no longer optimal safe learning environments and constantly interrupted by student behaviors that are not addressed under his leadership. There are no consistent and clear procedures and campus systems in place or followed. Teacher morale is poor, and more than half the staff has left in the 3 years that he has been principal.

I’m a former student. I was bullied until I had to leave. Most of the teachers are good, but some of them engaged in the bullying. DO NOT go here.
