4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI was a student at this school. It is now called Staunton High and it has been completely remodeled. The school had a lot of issues in the past and continues to have lots of issues but it has gotten better in the last couple of years. It has a problem with losing teachers but continues to hire every year.Other Review4y ago3 Reviews - Shelburne Middle School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school has ungrateful students—it's horrible. My daughter has shared many terrible experiences that have happened here. Based on what she’s told me, the rules are unfair, especially the phone policy. It’s one of the most useless policies I’ve ever seen, making it difficult for me to stay in contact with my daughter and the 8th-grade principal She hands out lunch detention, ISS, and even Saturday school for no reason—just because something annoys her so no reason. It seems like any little thing that bothers her results in a punishment which in this case is not that deep. This school needs to be evaluated, and honestly, students should be allowed to use their phones. It would be much better that way.Parent Review1y ago10 Reviews - A. R. Ware Elementary School

"Bought my house 2 years ago I enjoy living here, it’s 98% quiet, I’m home almost all the time. My neighborhood has a good amount of families with children, neighbors are friendly and look out for each others for safety purposes. I feel safe walking my dog day or night."

"Few roads have sidewalks but there are two large dog friendly parks in town. One is wooded trails the other is paved and has a dog park. Outside seating at restaurants and breweries in Staunton and surrounding area allow dogs. Several good vets. "

"I drive to Charlottesville, when i used to drive to the office. Most of the time it is uneventful, but if there is an accident on 64 at Afton Mtn, there are not any good alternative routes."

"From what I have seen, everyone kinda minds their own business. But some places seem a little underwhelming where they could be more. Not too bad or too good. "

"I live and work in Staunton, so it only a few minutes to work. Downtown Staunton has a lot to offer including great restaurants, shopping, theater and music. Gypsy Hill Park has a duck pond, great for walking and sporting events. "

"People often walk their dogs in our neighborhood, and many clean up after their waste. The occasional houndini parties through the neighborhood, but overall it’s a good experience. "

"Newtown is dog friendly. Most dog owners are great about using bags to clean up after the dogs. The neighborhood shops are also dog friendly to well-behaved dogs. Walking your dog is a great way to meet your fellow neighbors."

"What I have noticed after 14yrs of living here is that Frontier Dr. is a pretty busy street. The neighborhood although quiet is friendly. No dogs barking through the night. One of the first roads to be plowed in winter weather. Excellent access to Rt. 11, 81 and 64."

"We have fun playgrounds and Staunton is very walkable. I would be cautious about playing in front yards around here that aren’t fenced in because people fly down hills without regard to kids or pets or strays in the road. "
