About this House

Welcome Home to Avondale... a neighborhood with a country feel, just on the outskirts of Marion. Your mid 1960's red brick ranch style home with its low profile "Prairie" style roof line sits on a little over a half-acre lot. As you drive down N. River Road towards your new home it's hard not to fall in love with the area, notice how close to Grant County 101 Acre Matter Park you will soon be. As you pull into the driveway you will notice the ground level patio and covered front porch that's very inviting. When you enter the homes foyer to your left is a half wall with a bookshelf on the backside that defines your 1st comfortably sized living space with a double window to let the sunshine in. You also have a view of your very generous eating area with its double window and space for everything. The kitchen which is open to the eating space is U-shaped, with good cabinetry, nice counter space, a pantry and great natural light from another double window. The half bath is off the kitchen/dining area. Behind the kitchen you will find your 2nd living space with a slider to the back yard and access to the 2-car attached garage. The bedroom hallway to your right from the foyer, has 3 generous bedrooms all with hardwood floors. Your full bath has only one sink but, lots of counter space. The entire home has flat panel wood doors and traditional trim. While many aspects of the home will be what some might call "dated", others will call "good bones" or "charm". When you venture into your wonderfully large back yard you will have to admit the possibilities are endless and delightful.

"Grant County as a whole is becoming an opioid crisis hotspot. I can't wait to leave the area, and the thieves and dirt bags are growing by the minute. Suggestion, Don't "Make it Marion" folks. "
  • John Z.

"Depending on where you live you can walk to a convenient store. You do need a car to get around. My commute is pretty easy as I am a couple of blocks away from the main street that leads to my workplace. "
  • Carmen
"I would not want to raise children here. It is questionable at best. We know our immediate neighbors but for those surrounding....we’d just assume not to know them. There are loud fights and police/ambulance lights consistently."
  • Hollyrandolph82
"Many ppl in my neighborhood own dogs. It is a dog friendly space. You can walk your dog in the field or track around the neighborhood school."
  • Terenda R.
"Need more street lights and sidewalks. The area is really quiet and a peaceful neighborhood. I have lived here for 10 years "
  • Brianna C.
"The neighborhood I live in isn't good at all. Got a drug dealer, alcoholic, nibby neighbors, I have gotten my property stolen and my property distroyed. They're are stray animals everywhere. People always driving through with their radios blasting, people always setting off fireworks late at night, kids always bouncing badketballs right outside my b dmeroom window at night and not to mention there was a drive by shooting just a couple houses down from mine not to long ago."
  • Mary A. M.
"my job is 5 minutes away from where I live....ccurrently the streets are under construction and the commute is ok"
  • Bethanyholman8
"the town of Marion is a tough town. kinda scary at night usually. just keep an eye on your kids. make sure your doors are locked. alot of shooting occur in town. if you live outside of marion it's alot safer! "
  • Dianalnall3069
"I have grown up in the area and dont plan on leaving this area anytime soon and grandbaby and children still live here"
  • Calebarod13
"It’s got weird neighbors but they are all pretty cool. I like that everybody is fairly nice as well."
  • tsavoh1
"I loved growing up here. Liked everything about living out in the country. This works great for kids who do not like being cooped up in the house, who enjoy getting out and roaming the yard, fields and nearby creek. Low traffic on the country roads meant we were free to ride our bikes up and down the road without a big fear of getting hit. Sweetser was close enough that we could ride into town to visit friends. Although it was not there when I was growing up, Sweetser now has the Sweetser Switch Trail for exercise. I would recommend it to anyone!"
