"everything I need is within walking distance. I am comfortable with the area. the children have helped me try and socialize my 2 dogs. "
  • Mary A. O.
"The homes are beautiful and historic. It’s a beautiful place to walk, run, play tennis at the local park"
  • Briana H.
"It’s ok. Good neighbors for most part but not so good a few streets down. I love the park across the street. It’s nice for the kids "
  • Ashleyesengard
"Most people walking their dogs are very considerate, there are enough side roads and turns that you can avoid any house with a disruptive dog while walking (I can only think of one)"
  • Dallas S.
"small town , nice town. wish they'd build up instead of moving businesses out to next bigger town. old military town, old Italian community. beautiful old architecture and turn of century houses"
  • Ktaylor12591
"I was very lucky to group up on Lorena Rd. There were plenty kids my age and the other parents looked after us and told us what was what when we misbehaved. It was a nice quiet neighborhood. "
  • Richard R.
"People walk their dogs but are respectful of others property. Everyone here is friendly and people look out for each other."
  • Richard R.
"This is the house I was raised in and now over 45 years later it is still one of the best neighborhoods. People still have values and look out for each other. "
  • Annuel V.
"its been a year living here and is pretty good for the price . the neighborhood is awesome. the winter sucks and the summer only last 3 month . almost the hold month of June the temperature was 70. "
  • Katie B.
"I have lived in my neighborhood for four months and it's not too bad but definitely would like to live in a different area "
  • Nlkotary
"friendly, quiet neighborhood full m of families and easy accesss to stores and events. low crime, expanding community events and rich local history "
  • Abe M.
"The beautiful beautiful historic Jarvis library across the street is what makes this neighborhood unique. Fantastic place to raise kids! "
  • Romeman02
"I moved here from Orlando , for the schools and low crime . I'm an animal lover and this is a great place to live if you have a friendly dog ."
  • Signy E. c.
" Beautiful homes abound, of every variety....winters are snowy, but it hardly slows anything down...friendly people. The downside is high taxes, a growing population of people from downstate and NYC who are there because of the massive prisons right outside Rome; most are on welfare, draining the city's resources, and the amount of crime - unusual for Rome -- has grown proportionately...if Rome's government cannot find a way to put a brake on this influx, the historic nature of Rome and environs will change permanently. Rome is already struggling from problems dating back 40 years or so, when the govt decided to tear down a quintessential turn of the centery downtown, and cover it with concrete and massive parking garages.....the city is now trying to turn it back into the epicenter of a wonderful town, once again. Cannot be done unless they erect replicas of what they tore down. Rome has a poor reputation for preserving its historic buildings, poor zoning, and without the rejuvenation of former Griffiss Air Force Base, would have virtually no real industries. There still is, however, a certain charm in its older neighborhoods and its friendly, open people. The lovely, historic churches add to the charm, but Rome needs more people to enjoy them (the closing of the base was near-catastrophic for the city's population -- from approx 44,000 then to less than 30,000 now). But I still love to go Home to Rome, although my family is no longer there, but a few friends still are, but I worry about its future."
