I have been in johnstown schools my whole life from pre-k and I am now going into my senior year and from day one this school has been bad. Kids always fighting, vaping/smoking. Students always skipping and never in class just hanging out with a teacher or security officer who likes them and will let them out of class. The Academic curricular is also very bad and it is very hard to learn some topics depending on the teacher and it’s very limited on the choice you have as an elective also teachers will pretty much trash talk on students with other students and or teachers also sometimes disclosing important and confidential information such as grades, medical conditions, home addresses from power school and etc (This is all from my own experience and personal encounters). This school has been horrible for awhile now, and it dose have its good parts, and not all teachers/staff is bad and not all kids fight and smoke but most do and most teachers in that school should not be around kids at all let alone a teacher and the school doesn't look like it’s going to get any better so thank god and beyond that this is my last year whit this school and the district forever.

I just came from an IEP meeting for my son who is in 5th grade. All of his teachers and support staff were at the meeting and all were genuinely concerned for my sons progress. They all told me what a wonderful loving respectful young man my son is. For once his learning disabilities were not blamed on bad behaviors. The teachers seem to really care. I had not seen this effort from the teachers in the elementary school. I am pleased with the communication between myself and these teachers. I truly believe my son will make progress and achieve better grades with their help. Thank you all for a meeting that expressed understanding and genuine love and care for my son.
