"This town (most of the original buildings burnt down in the 1930's) of small vacation cabins sits at 9,500' in a pretty alpine valley. With only a few full-time residents, it can be a very quiet place at most times, and then teem with the bustle of Summer visitors... some just passing by on ATV's & dirt bikes. The County snow plows up to the town in Winter, so accessibility by car is always good. Lots of outdoor recreation opportunities, including hiking, 4 wheel driving, camping, and hunting. It is 15 miles to the closest main highway & very small town. It is 45 minutes drive ( in good weather), south or north, to the more substantial towns which have shops, gasoline and services. It is not far to Monarch Ski Area (about an hour drive) for Winter snow skiing. The "town" does get some wild animals, like bear & mountain lions, visiting at times, so best to be cautious with pets."
