"Piedmont Pines is a wonderful neighborhood. There is lots of wildlife, trees, and access to hiking trails. There is good freeway access for commuting. The neighbors are friendly and welcoming. Neighbors really care about one another. There is a great sense of community including annual get-togethers. There are plenty of stores for easy shopping in Montclair. There is also a good variety of nearby restaurants to choose from. "
  • Anya03otto02
"I lived in this neighborhood for over 5 decades. Sold my house to downsize. Sadly, I had to give us the best neighbors, community, and friends. Upper Peralta Creek neighborhood is a hidden gem. It is a very friendly neighborhood. "
  • Paul Rodriguez
"I have been living in this neighborhood for over a decade, and my connection to Oakland spans more than 20 years. During this time, I have witnessed a significant rise in violence in the area, which has become increasingly concerning. Alongside this troubling trend, the cost of living has also skyrocketed, making it challenging for long-term residents to thrive. Given these circumstances, I am seriously considering relocating elsewhere, seeking a community that is safer and more affordable. While I hold hope that, much like advancements in technology, there will eventually be effective solutions to combat this violence, I can't help but feel that those perpetuating it may need to experience the consequences of their actions firsthand. It’s a difficult situation that weighs heavily on my mind as I navigate the changes in the city I once loved."
  • Leahgregory1
"Some areas are amazing, others are not. It can be a dice roll neighborhood to neighborhood, street to street. "
  • N.aus
"I been living here for 10 years. Do I feel like getting packed deliver to my house is safe? As I mention I been living here 10 years, and Ofcourse I get packages delivered all the time but I feel safe absolutely not. "
  • samantha hanes
"It’s always very loud at night. You hear fireworks, motorcycles, gunshots, sideshows, it’s never ending."
  • AC
"Lots of other people walking their dogs and plenty of nature areas to walk to. There’s also plenty of grassy areas along the sidewalks for potty breaks"
  • 6ss4rwh8bh
"There’s is a different kind of people that are living here There is a different culture That’s more important And amazing "
  • Adan Arroyo
"I enjoy living in Glenview, Oakland, CA. Many neighbors walk their dogs and stop to converse about life and neighborhood."

"Potlucks, dinners, art, walks in the city, in the lake, in the mountains…. 💕 amazing neighbors… we love this place!"
  • ianstorrar
"I can only commute via car or by driving 7 minutes to BART. I work from home so I only have to do this some times."
  • Purnima Khandhadai
"Potluck , warm people , great parks , progressive , dog friendly. Like minded young families. Great community "
  • Ariel Gonzalez
"Glass and needles, trash, loud noises at night (gunshots, fireworks, explosions) not many grassy areas or dog parks that are safe and kept clean. But 20 minute walk to lake Merritt (in front of fairyland) where you can socialize your dog. The downtown area is much cleaner than the neighborhoods below telegraph going towards west Oakland. "
  • Mara Behrens
"My neighborhood is vibrant, it has lots of great small shops, everything is walking distance. Easy public transportation and access to highways which makes the commute easy."
  • Dennis English
"I can walk to work in 30 minutes or ebike in 10 minutes downtown Oakland. 30 minutes to downtown financial district by trans bay bus."
  • Gwczmh8pbk
"There’s not much community events here just the San Antonio park events that be happening around but we verly go as well to those. "
  • Mara Behrens
"It’s an excellent neighborhood, within walking distance to everything, but it feels very private, with fantastic neighbors; we feel fortunate"
  • Shelby Porter
"It’s a safe neighborhood I live here me and my roommate both drive, but driving to Berkeley is a nightmare "

  • Mara Behrens
"I’ve been living here for the past 2 1/2 years and love it. Our neighbors are fantastic, and look for each other. Is the best kept secret of the Bay Area, with a true sense of community. The food is incredible, lots of options to walk, hike, shop and do!"
  • Brandon Young
"There is a coffee shop, Thai restaurant and convenient store close to each other. This is a really residential neighborhood, so having these things in walking distance is pretty nice."
  • Renee Cordsen
"Beautiful community and well-maintained by HOA. Neighbors are friendly. I’ve lived here for 4 years and feel very safe and peaceful living here. Have to be careful with car break-ins, like anywhere else in Oakland - it’s best to keep your car clean with nothing inside to attract theft."
  • Maia Ross Trupin
"I drive because I work in an area that transit doesn’t reach well (deep East Oakland). My drive is 30 minutes."
  • Kemi Amin
"Not sure. I am not a dog owner. But there should be a designated dog park somewhere in the area for neighbors."
  • Scwyvhpy29
"There’s no community events in the upper peralta neighborhood. There’s a church that has food drives but that’s it"
  • Tajianna Okechukwu
"Camaraderie and organic conversation is what I noticed! In addition to art, food, and culture events!"
  • Kemi Amin
"Diversity and landscape of Oakland is not like anywhere else in the state or the country. The Piedmont Ave neighborhood is special with its suburbs and businesses."
  • Amy Clark
"This is a poor neighborhood. There are burned out vans and street walkers everywhere. This is NOT a gentrified ‘hood. "
  • Anya Kusmierski
"The public elementary school of Crocker Highlands is excellent, and the middle school Edna Brewer is very good too. Many families with children in the neighborhood, and many family and child center activities frequently take place in the community."
  • Chandler Visher
"Where you are in Oakland is important; schools are highly variable. Hills can offer great views. Crime seems to be endemic "
  • Trulia User
"Lots of dog owners in the neighborhood. Lots of people walking their dogs. Friendly environment for dogs "
  • Almachhour3
"I love living here, very close to SF and west oakland bart. Don't look for trouble and it won't find you. Go home at night, and lock your doors, and you'll be safe. Not a lot going on here, no real restaurants, or coffee places. However, you can just go to SF in less than 10 mins. No need to pay SF jacked prices, when West Oakland will do just fine. "
  • Ed Cruz
"You see people walking their dogs all the time. It’s a dog friendly neighborhood. Most dog owners will stop and chat for a moment."
  • Kevinc97
"It’s a great neighborhood! Little alley ways connect to Harrison and Oakland Avenues. We love being able to walk to restaurants, bars, shops, and grocery stores "
  • Holly
"I am retired. But you can use ferry , bus , Bart or casual carpool to get to SF I worked in the city and it was not a bad commute "
  • Jlnachem
"People are generally dog friendly, sometimes don’t pick up after their pets though. Overall very dog friendly."
  • Mike Matthews
"The neighborhood is great for dogs, we’re thrilled to walk our dog here. People are so friendly and welcoming with dogs"
