This school is incredibly disorganized. I transferred my children from a different school system to Buchanan this year and I'm amazed -- not in a good way -- at the differences. The office staff and principal are both dismissive of questions, like we should already know the procedures for things like dropping off and picking up children. The teachers I asked didn't know what time school let out! A teacher tried to tell me what I could and couldn't send in a lunch for my child. Every morning this week I have witnessed the cafeteria helpers (I don't know what their official title is) yell at the students about standing in line, getting up, and putting their breakfast trash in the right place. I called to speak to the school counselor to verify the time for a meeting we set and I was treated very rudely by the office staff. I get the idea from my brief interactions with them that they're overworked, underpaid, and ready to take it out on anyone who has the misfortune to stand in front of their counter. The counselor has been pleasant and helpful, but she's only at the school once a week. It's the first week of school and I already regret moving my kids to this district.

This school should be closed down! Give these kids a voucher to go to any school that will accept them. Get Unions out of government & out of our schools. ELIMINATE all union teachers, school is for our children, not these teachers & their union!

If your child is still a decent kid I would avoid this school at all costs. The kids alone will change your child's Behavior. The teachers are horrible they will let the kids walk off campus, will not stop them on nothing. There is not one teacher in their responsible. Most of the kids are doing bad as far as grades you can look at the overall grades online. this school is just horrible and will ruin your child if attended
