Description

Herrick Bay Bird House is an expanded, spacious cape with 4 bedrooms & 5 baths which includes an apartment, Herrick Bay Bird Wing, with active rental history. Less than a mile from Brooklin center, this home is perfectly sited at the head of Herrick's Bay. South-facing and sunny within, it offers spectacular views of a major tidal haven for ospreys, herons, and eagles. Built in 1972, the apartment wing was added in 1990. In 1996, a second floor master suite was added with cathedral ceiling and his and her bathrooms. A large curving deck provides a long, gorgeous view out to where Eggemoggin Reach meets Blue Hill Bay. Many large south-facing windows and sliding glass doors, skylights, and a two-sided fireplace between living room and dining area contribute to a bright, warm interior. Perennial gardens and surrounding tall ferns further enhance a unique & charming property that's not to be missed. Make an appointment with a Broker to see it.

  • Carol S.
"Natural beauty everywhere. Cultural events many--music, lectures, art galleries and book stores. Good restaurants in the summer. Low cost of living, especially food. A car is essential. Each small town has a lot of civic pride, and have farm market days in the summer. Brooklin has The Cave--a wonderful place to find the perfect bottle of wine, the best cheese selection in the state and very friendly. We have been vacationed here for more than 20 years and would live here if not so removed from our other family members. Winters are much loved by the locals, but I think some might find it a little isolating. Walking is only a challenge on the main roads--no sidewalks in most places. You don't have to live on the water to have access to it. There is great sailing and kayaking and public access to most ponds and bays."
