My daughter loved this school! It exhibits nothing but kind and understanding teachers and principal that shows they really care about the education of their students.

This school is truly caring about it's students and need more parent participation to make it even better! They have always been very response to any needs we had concerns about as a family.

This is not a STEM school. Tour the school and ask to see the STEM program and hands on learning. It will vary greatly depending on the classroom. Students spend most of their time learning on the computer using the same curriculum utilized throughout the rest of the district- it is not a specialized learning experience. If your student is middle of the road and can sit on a computer all day then they will do fine at this school doing Lexia and IXL. However, class sizes are large and very little support is provided for new teachers or unique learners. Each teacher is on an island. The reality is you have to be a vocal and pushy parent to make sure your child's needs are met. It didn't feel good. And if your child ends up with a teacher who struggles, there is no support for that teacher and the class suffers. The new principal seems out of her element, like a fish trying to climb a tree. I'm sure she was great in a small pond. Most of the teachers care and are incredibly thoughtful humans. There are a handful of standout teachers and staff who seem to stay because they love the students, families and staff relationships they have formed. And those individuals make the school. However, it has not been enough to keep families. Many families are leaving (some left before the end of the school year). Teachers have shifted roles throughout the year and there have been several long term subs. The inconsistency has negatively impacted students. This, along with weak leadership, is resulting in so many families making the hard decision to leave when they had hoped to remain until high school. Also, there are several schools that offer a hands on STEM learning experience without the STEM label. This school does not. Again, ask to see and experience STEM learning at this school if you decide to tour. It is minimal to non-existent. Ask to observe a math lesson. Ask about systems for teacher support with behaviors, struggling students and accelerated learners. Even if this isn't your child it will directly impact your child. This school is living off of its high rating from years ago. I hope leadership figures out systems of support for staff and students and provides better opportunities for STEM learning in the future. At this moment, I do not recommend this school. Most of the teachers and staff are great humans they just aren't supported the way they should be making a difficult job even harder.
