This school has multiple fights, smoking in restrooms, and false accusations of innocent students who find them caught in the crossfire of such activities.

My son attended in the GT academy of QVMS in the 6th grade. It’s the only school I’ve had to withdraw either of my children from. From sitting in on two virtual classes, English and Spanish, I witnessed two teachers showing favorites and ignoring the remaining children. Granted it occurred in the height of the Covid pandemic. But I believe the teachers should have been more, not less, understanding and supportive. When I reported the incident to the Principal, she essentially swept it under the rug and I ended up reporting it to the School Board, who said they couldn’t act after I had already transferred my child to another school system.

My son is in 8th grade this year and had had a good experience at QVMS. The school does a good job of listening to parents and seriously looking into their concerns. The communication with parents could be better, but if one actually reads the weekly newsletters they can stay informed. We like the field experiences, but like all, there is never enough time to actually learn everything one would like at each...a chance for parents to go back with their child and learn more together. My son has never complained about the food. Fighting and bullying are minimal. His (and my) only complaint is the amount of homework he brings home every night. Overall, QVMS is a good choice in schools.
