This school was horrible for my first child and then even worse for my second. I made the decision to make sure that my kids would never be put in the situations they dealt with daily and moved them out of the school district. My only regret is not doing it sooner. There is maybe 1-2 teachers who are amazing and the rest are the kind of teachers that you know hate their job and may not even particularly like children. Half of them don't even know the curriculum and are often corrected by the students. They don't regularly schedule parent teacher conferences unless your child is failing all their classes. My child had two F's and they seemed very confused as to why I would request a conference and even acted offended that I did so, and all meetings I was met with hostility instead of concern for my child and wanting to help each other for the betterment of my child. The teachers and principal only care about the selected cool kids and could care less about anyone else. Most of them act like they are trying to re-live their Eaton glory days in the forties-fifties! New school has been a game changer, my child was depressed and lost all hope in ever liking school and that has completely changed. Read previous reviews they all say the same. Keep your kids away from this school.

This school has a major bullying and harassment problem. I have been going here for about 3 weeks and oh my goodness, me snd my friends get literally harassed by students on/off campus because we are neuro-divergent. I have Anxiety which entails a lot of ASD symptoms and am often made fun of because of my lack of ability to communicate. Also there is a huge racism problem. The students at this school often call the mascot the "Eaton Indian". I have heard so many people drop the soft N-slur, and all of them have been white. The teachers and counselors do diddly squat when it comes to bullying, and they let it run rampant in their classrooms. I cannot handle being at this school. People often try to debate me on my human rights, because not only am I mentally ill but I am also part of the lgbtq+ community. The counselors and people in the office constantly misgender and use incorrect pronouns for me.

Galeton Elementary has been a Leader In Me School since my child has been there and he absolutely loves it. The kids have fun learning and the academics are great. They have won a bunch of awards over the last few years. My child loves going to school and as a parent I appreciate the communication that the school has with me as well as the leadership they push for each student.
