8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son recently started attending this school and initially tested high enough to be placed in the AAP math class. At first, he was very happy and felt proud that his hard work had paid off. However, he has since shared that the academic pace feels extremely light, almost as if he is taking the year off. There is very little homework, and much of the school day appears to be spent on Chromebooks with limited structure or academic accountability.I am concerned about the quality of math instruction and assessment. The SOL math results appear weak, and the instructional approach does not seem to build a strong mathematical foundation. Previously, when we lived in Florida, my son participated in a Fast Math style program that used structured modules to reinforce mastery and progression. That approach was far more effective and supported long term understanding.Since enrolling here, I have noticed a decline in my son’s academic performance. To compensate, I am supplementing at home with math, reading, and science, but I worry this is not enough to replace consistent, high quality instruction during the school day.I am also concerned about the lack of collaboration with parents. Communication with teachers is slow and often takes several days. There does not appear to be a willingness to work in partnership with families. At our previous school, if my son missed only two questions on an assessment, the test would be sent home so we could review the material together before the next evaluation. That level of feedback and engagement made a meaningful difference.I am genuinely worried about my son’s academic trajectory and believe educational standards, particularly in math, require serious attention in Virginia. I want to work collaboratively with the school to ensure my child is appropriately challenged and supported.Parent Review6mo ago16 Reviews - Glasgow Middle School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI used to go to Glasgow Middle School. Let me tell you to everyone who wants to come here: Do not go to Glasgow Middle School. Go to Longfellow Middle School and middle schools in Chantilly, they are much better. The schools in McLean, VA have a better special education program than this middle school. Longfellow Middle School and McLean High School have better special education program than Glasgow Middle School. This middle school has a terrible special education program. They don’t know on how to help special education students with an IEP and different learning abilities. The counselors and case managers don’t know on how to help and guide special education students through success in learning. They are not fully well trained. All of the case managers are horrible. One case manager went to look at my stuff without the permission of my other case manager which is disrespectful. They could have recommended me and my parents to go try Longfellow Middle School which the staff members are better at helping special education students than those at Title 1 schools. I have really bad three case managers here. They threatened the parents to put their special education kids into getting a tutor outside of the school in order for them to stay in team taught classes, general education classes, and honors classes for Math, Science, and English. Speech therapist, Occupational therapist, and Reading Specialist do not work with your special needs child who have struggles with reading comprehension and writing problem like pressing pen/pencil too hard. They will tell you to seek a Speech Therapist and Occupational Therapist outside of school to a clinic and get a tutor if your child have problems with reading comprehension. They will threatened the parents to get a occupational therapist outside of school if your child has writing problems such as pressing the pen/pencil too hard and wants to stay in team taught classes, general education classes, and honors classes. For all those parents who have special needs kids, I do recommend to put your special needs kids in Longfellow Middle School and McLean High School and avoid Title 1 schools altogether including Glasgow Middle School. It was a very horrible experience. Remember: not all schools are the same. Good schools are in rich areas including McLean, VA and if you don’t have money to buy a home there, I would recommend doing getting a rental home in Falls Church, VA borderline to McLean, VA and McLean, VA.Other Review11mo ago34 Reviews - Justice High School
