WDP has a dedicated and energetic teaching staff and administration. Everyone is always so supportive and helpful. The students are great as well. There are many programs offered as well so students have many opportunities. WDP is a comfortable environment to learn in.

My son has been attending Hemlock since he was in kindergarten, and he is now in second grade. When he started school, he wasn’t doing well behaviorally. He struggles with ADHD, and it affects his behavior at school and his ability to learn. We had him formally evaluated and placed on an IEP. The school psychologist, who we initially worked with, was not as helpful - she thought the idea of assigning an aide to my son was “icky” (her word), and was resistant to placing him on the IEP. By first grade, it was obvious to everyone that worked directly with my son that an IEP was needed, and that’s when the paperwork was finally put through on the school’s end. But even before the IEP, there were many staff members who were wonderful in working with my son. The vice principal, the school counselors, and my son’s teachers were all great, and wanted to see my son succeed. I had frequent contact with his teachers, and got progress reports from them regularly. Since starting on the IEP (and getting additional support outside of school), my son has done incredibly well at Hemlock. The office staff all know him by name, as do most of the other support staff. The Special Ed teachers we’ve worked with have been great as well (Mr. Olks especially!), and have developed connections to my son that really help him feel like he can succeed in spite of his struggles. And even though he was getting disciplined a lot in first grade (for valid reasons), the staff never seems to hold that against him, and they encourage him and want to see him do well. Overall we’ve had a great experience at Hemlock Creek!
