This is a special place!! I can’t recommend it enough. I’m entering my fifth year here as a parent. My eldest attended between 3rd- 5th grade and is now flourishing in middle school. My youngest just completed kindergarten. My kids have had ups and downs these last several years, and the school has done a fantastic job of supporting them. They communicate with me constantly. I always know what’s going on. I don’t know how they have the time, to be honest! I think teaching is definitely a calling. As a former educator myself, I understand this from personal experience. The school culture is warm and welcoming and caring. They seem to have hit that rare balance between high educational goals and social/emotional compassion for each child. I’ve moved around Raleigh a few times since moving here, but I’ve made sure my girls were still able to attend this fabulous school. The principal is wonderful, too. He’s always out of his office helping. Before and after school care folks are lovely, too (that’s hosted by Raleigh parks and rec). PTA is very involved, too.

Amazing school, my child had a great teacher, great grades, and an amazing environment around her. She improved drastically after moving to Rolesville Middle School and became a better person.

As a former teacher at RHS , I wouldn't recommend this school to anyone. With the majority of the students below grade level, all the admin care about is passing students along and getting bonuses by making students take tests and courses they don't even need. Behavior problems are out of control. Students fight, do drugs, have sex, vandalize, do a lot of other inappropriate things daily on campus. The bathrooms are usually closed because of vandalism. More time, money, and focus is spent on kids who don't want to be there than kids who want to learn. These kids get left behind.There are so many classes without certified teachers. The overall morale is so low. The principal micromanages the staff. The office sectretaries are rude to staff, parents, and students. The overall safety of the school is a daily concern. Teachers are given an impossible work load with no restroom or lunch breaks and a ridiculous amount of duties, after hour meetings, and mandatory evening and weekend events without any compensation.There is definitely a racial division in the school and the principal tends to side with students and staff of his race.I wouldn't be surprised if this school had to suddenly shut down because so many staff members quit.This has to be the worst school I've ever taught at in NC.
