Our family came from homeschooling at a point when we were feeling disconnected from community and worn out from trying to accommodate three different learning styles. In looking for a school, one of our highest priorities was for our each of our kids to be seen as a whole person, not just a name or GPA. We wanted them to make friends and thrive as humans while learning. Our family's experience at Aldo has exceeded our hopes not only for our kids, but for us as a family. Our whole family has benefited from being part of the Aldo community in that we've all made friends and found a place where we can be ourselves and share our talents. The care and attention that the teachers have shown each of our children brings me to tears. They know their personalities and strengths and weaknesses and do their best to help them connect to learning in ways that work for them. The relationships that they build with the students makes it easy for kids to ask for help when they need it not only academically but also in their personal lives. I have seen our kids grow in confidence and skill over the years we've been at Aldo. Our eldest was so nervous about moving to public school and there were many tears, but now she says it was one of the best things that we've done. She is now thriving in high school, and I credit a lot of that to her time at Aldo. Our middle child really struggled her first year, but one of the counselors was intentional about helping her make friends and checking on her if I let her know she was having a rough morning. Knowing that someone was looking out for her really calmed my own fears and made me feel confident she would make it through. She feels so much more comfortable at school and loves her friends and teachers. Our youngest has really grown in his reading skills and is discovering an aptitude for math that I was not equipped to foster when I was homeschooling them. Teachers partner with parents to do the very best for the kids and help them become awesome human beings.I cannot say enough about how much our family loves and appreciates Aldo Leopold Community School!

The school itself seems to be in good condition, they are saving up money to update the playground (it's going to be a more natural playground and looks pretty cool). The teachers are wonderful! They try to help each student as best as they can. Now for the cons: there are a LOT of parents that do not help their children. A large portion of the students do not get extra help at home and they also are in need of clothes and winter materials due to lack of support from home. Theft is a problem unfortunately, we've dealt with a bully stealing my child's lunch, someone stole my child's extra set of clothes from his backpack, and now we've been trying to get his special gloves back from another student. My son has been getting bored in class because he is ready to move on but most of the other children still need more help at school since they don't receive it at home. As much as I like the school itself, my son will not be returning next year due to having to repeatedly replace my child's things because they are stolen and we feel time has been wasted for my son to continue learning. (Not wasted on the other students though, just the ones that are ready to move up.)

As a former student, yeah it’s a great school. But if your not like the other kids, and have special interests you like to display.. your gonna get bullied (from my experience). And if your kid is special needs, and uses a wheel chair, he’s not gonna have a fun year. For an example my brother, who got a rock threw at him :DBut this is from my experience.

The school does not offer any emotional or social support. Instead of referring students to a free professional therapy service offered to any student of the green bay public school system, the counselor's give the names of the two police officers for therapy needs??!

The new principal has no idea what she is doing and is running the school into the ground.
