The farm has over 5 acres in a permanent bed system. The entire property has been certified organic with the USDA since 2009. A double electric fence surrounds all beds for effective deer control. The soil types range from sandy-loam uplands to thick organic muck-type soils perfect for onions and celery. After years of soil testing and organic amending the beds all have exceptional fertility. Each of the beds is served by a 2 inch irrigation header set up for drip irrigation, with the water provided by a powerful 5 inch agricultural well. Large perennial plantings of 6 varieties of raspberries (both summer and fall bearing), 6 varieties of blueberries and asparagus are included. The terrain, location and soil type are also ideal for wine grapes, table grapes, hops and fruit trees. Reliable breezes make this property a strong candidate for wind energy as well.
