Mortgage due is $60k but will probably sell for much less just to unload it.
Chimney collapsed in March making it unlivable. Owner can't rebuild due to time and expense.
$20K could make it livable again but best to tear down, salvage some logs and start over.
BELOW TAX VALUE! Very affordable "fixer-upper" mountain log home in a small friendly neighborhood. Recent chimney damage requires repair. Feels like you are out in the country, but only 8 minutes to Boone (New Market Center) and 5 minutes to grocery store. Parkway School is minutes away. Monarch Lane is a private gravel road. There is not a formal POA or HOA, but occasionally homeowners are asked to pitch in and buy gravel to maintain the road. Seller estimates a couple of hundred a year. Fireplace has a wood stove insert. Walkout basement has block walls and working outlets, but no water. The property has 2 sheds, the the big one out back is a 12x14 and a small one out front is 6x8. Shared well with home above and behind the home.

    "I am a biz owner here & have seen things change dramatically in past 12 years. No long-term rental housing unless you are a student or uber-wealthy, and you don't own a pet. Completely over-saturated with corporate-owned, short-term Air BnB's & VRBO's. Summer traffic is unreal along with roadwork. Tourists can be incredibly rude & the Mack trucks, semis & loggers on the 2-lane highways are dangerous. Need to own a helicopter or be one of the uber-wealthy who has access to the golf club heli to & from the airport. "

In those neighborhoods, it is much more necessary to have a car. But I’m all areas, everyone is cautious of walkers, and I always have felt safe walking my dog, both at night and during the day (even as a female). "
