Alumni from a few years ago.Ditmas IS 62, the WORST middle school in Brooklyn, is a terrible option for any parent looking to put their child in a middle school. I attended here a few years ago, and it was a TERRIBLE experience that still leaves a mental mark on me to this day.The staff here are incredibly disrespectful and discriminated against me for having autism. One of them even joked about it. In 8th grade, the librarian laughed at me for my shyness and even joked about it to another teacher and a student. As someone previously mentioned in another review, the 8th grade English teacher repeatedly used the r-slur and did not care when students pointed it out. That same teacher was known to embarrass her students.It’s not just the teachers; it’s the administration too. They never responded to my dad’s emails when he tried to reach out, and when he went in person, they shrugged off his comments with the same excuses.The 2023 review is right. The kids here are incredibly selfish, immature, and have no regard for others. I was constantly made fun of for my autism, and there were barely any instances where staff stepped in. Online is even worse. Many students joke about watching inappropriate content and even “flex” about it. There were also multiple instances of Instagram accounts being made just to throw shade at other students. Once again, the staff showed no interest in addressing these issues. and just like when I reported things, I ended up being the one getting in trouble.This is a terrible school that does not deserve any praise or recognition due to its incompetent administration and the behavior of its students. There were a handful of good people, a few friends and my math teacher, and I’m thankful for them. Many alumni from multiple graduating classes, including mine, are speaking out about this school. We’ve shared similar experiences, and while we’re grateful it’s over, it doesn’t change what happened.Ditmas IS 62, your alumni are coming back, and we’re not going to stay silent about our experiences.

This was School is thought and being at school is fun

THIS IS A HORRIBLE SCHOOL!! if you want to send your kid to A RLLY BAD SCHOOL, send them here :) your kids education is the most important thing and in this school, you wont get that. they are barely any opportunities. your child is not going to be safe here. The staff has an attitude and wont cooperate with you. There's a lot of threats against students. The teachers there dont know how to teach and they are very unprofessional. And they are very biased against people. They would always prefer/ believe upper classmen over lower class ppl. The staff have favorites and the school is a C rating. the building is very nasty and the bathroom has no mirrors and its always clogged and the toilets are very nasty. They assistant principals are very rude and they wont understand you. The highschool is only 1 floor and its very small area. They lock our phones in a pouch and i feel as a student that in case of an emergency that i should be able to use my phone and contact people. The assistant principal doesn't show mercy and every little mistake you do, she will punish you or even suspend u. They dont keep secrets. If you tell the guidance counselour something, they would just send you to get mental help. They dont understand and they're trying to find an easy way out. Horrible staff members. A lot of students dont feel safe in this school, and they are scared of certain students in this building. As a student I dont feel safe because of the staff members and some students that are involved in school fights and etc. Theres a lot of bullying that goes on in this school. and ofc academic wise, this school's teachers honestly dont teach good at all! They dont believe you if you want to use the bathroom. This school in general is not safe. Theres only 1 security guard for the entire building, and this is very concerning. As a student and as a classmate, ive heard many bad things about this school but i didn't believe until i showed up and attended this school myself. Its my job to protect you guys for humanity because this is literally not good. The staff gives attitude, they treat you like animals. MOST IMPORTANTLY, they dont want you to stand up for yourself. If you are getting beaten up, according to them, you have to let them beat u up and wait for a teacher to come into the situation. If you want a GOOD AND REAL highschool experience, dont attend this school. PLEASEEE STAY AWAYYY!!!!!!
