1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageCHS is a great school. I have a totally different background and was worried about bullies but I have been received with love and kindness. Excellence is celebrated regardless of where you come from. Teachers interact with us like their own children. I am a 9th grader and can say I absolutely enjoy school. My teachers are already discussing college courses with me.Future Aeronautical Engineer,Oluwadamilare.Student Review9y ago6 Reviews - East Side High School

1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI just was awarded section 8. I was so excited. I wanted to move out of Newark. Then I received a letter from Malcolm Shabazz stating that my son was one of 6 students in Newark district schools that was awarded a scholarship to Lincoln Tech. All expenses paid. Malcolm Shabazz also informed us that not only will he be graduating next year with honors from there but also Lincoln Tech. They informed us upon graduating in would receive an additional scholarship for 85,000, to further his education. My son was and is so excited. So as for me moving out of Newark, not happening now. My son's dreams have to come first. Thank you Malcolm Shabazz for caring so much about my child and his future!Parent Review2y ago4 Reviews - Weequahic High School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI was a former teacher at Elliott Street for 4 years before moving to Florida. Elliott Street has high standards and expectations to ensure students are getting the education they deserve. I won’t lie, it is hard work but very rewarding. I had the pleasure to have worked with both Ms. Johnson and Ms. Desantis. Both principals were very professional and approachable. The coaches were always willing to work with me and answer any questions I had. The school building is so modern and full of technology. If you love teaching and are willing to put in the hard work, I definitely recommend working here. If you are a parent looking for a school to enroll your child in, this is a very great school. The rating provided does not take into account the academics of the primary grades, the fact that Elliott has many bilingual students who struggle with English, and students with specials needs. Do not let a rating be the determining factor! Visit the school, meet the staff members, and form your own opinion.Parent Review4y ago2 Reviews - Check out schools near 34 Delevan Ave.

"It's a normal environment for children to grow up in. It is not as high maintenance as it would be in a gated community though. But it is a basic living environment "

"I lived in this neighborhood for 6 years, I have never had a problem with any body. I worked and went to school. Very friendly people, you could tell that most people around that area work, because during day light, the streets were basically empty, no cars parked one the street until 6:30PM. "

"This isn’t the best neighborhood for raising children. There are drug abusers and women selling themselves on the street corners. The ability to find parking isn’t always easy and there is a lot of double parking happening in this area. "
